About 11 minutes drive from Naha Airport. It is an Edo-style sushi restaurant located in Tomari, Naha City. The sushi is of a high grade, yet reasonably priced! The sushi made by the quiet but smiling Okinawan-born chef in the old-fashioned and austere store is the best in the world! If you are tired of Okinawan food and hamburgers, go there.

Point 1: Tomari’s gourmet street? What is the location of Sushi Izumi?

Sushi Izumi is located near Tomari Port in Tomari, Naha City, only 11 minutes by car from Naha Airport. There are surprisingly many sushi restaurants in Naha, but this restaurant is a masterpiece that is rumored to have raised the level of sushi in Naha.

Speaking of people staying near Tomari Port, are most of them there for diving purposes? I have the impression that many of the accommodations are equipped with washing machines and dryers, and that many of them serve breakfast early in the morning.

Sushi Izumi is located along the canal in Tomari. In fact, the area around Sougenji Street in Tomari is secretly called “Gourmet Street” because of the many other gourmet restaurants and eateries.

Once you open the old-fashioned lattice door and enter the restaurant, you will find yourself in a world of only nine seats at the counter.

But is it because Okinawa is a place where so many people cross paths? You get the sense that the restaurant is open to both regulars and newcomers alike.

The sushi is made by a quiet but smiling Okinawan-born chef who serves the best fish of the day at the best time, in the best condition, and in the best order, which is sometimes described as “sincere and honest sushi!

Perhaps taking advantage of Okinawa’s direct flights, the best ingredients from all over the country are gathered here, but if Okinawan ingredients are available, they are sometimes served.

It could be said that the sushi is not influenced by trends, but rather is a product of quality and integrity.

Point 2: What is the sushi menu at Sushi Izumi like?

The sushi menu at “Sushi Izumi” does not have a large variety.

However, the “omiyakki” changes depending on the day’s purchases. Each day, the menu, which is written in black ink on a piece of paper, includes about 12 kinds of sushi, such as flatfish, yellowfin bream, squid, and prawns. There are also four types of maki rolls, including cucumber, kanpyo (dried gourd), tetsubi (iron fire), and red clam string.

The menu includes only omakase, “nigiri only 8 pieces and maki” (3,800 yen) and “5 side dishes, nigiri 8 pieces and maki” (6,500 yen).

The rice is made with red vinegar and has a slight sweetness and the delicious taste of the neta (fish) spreading in your mouth! I never knew it could be so much fun to enjoy the different tastes of the ingredients served one by one.

You can also enjoy the artistic yachimun, which is served with the sushi on it.

Sushi is only available as an omakase course, but you can order snacks a la carte.

Point 3: What kind of snack menu does “Sushi Izumi” have?

The snacks at Sushi Izumi can be ordered a la carte.

Each snack is only a small portion, but they are all exquisite dishes with concentrated flavors collected from all over Japan.

The menu always features about 14-15 items, such as horse mackerel nameko, bonito salt tataki, ankimo, grilled prawn, fried chinook, etc., all reasonably priced from 500 to 1,200 yen!

Most of the items are shipped directly from Toyosu and other areas, but if Okinawan ingredients are available, they will be on the menu.

If sushi alone is not enough for you, but you don’t need a course, you can order sushi omakase with a few side dishes!
