This Japanese restaurant is located on the first floor of the Southwest Grand Hotel, a 13-minute drive from Naha Airport, a short distance from the center of Kokusai Street. It has newly started serving Okinawan soba for lunch, and you can enjoy it in the open-air seating in the garden.
Point 1: Okinawa soba in the garden! What is the location of SHIKAKU?
Access to “SHIKAKU” is easy. From Naha Airport, drive through the Umisora Tunnel to the “Southwest Grand Hotel” located in the middle of Kokusai-dori Avenue, which takes only 13 minutes.
Also, by bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 26, 99, 120, or 190 and get off at “Kencho North Exit” and walk for 8 minutes.
Or you can take the Yui Rail and get off at “Kencho-mae” it is only a 9-minute walk.
SHIKAKU is located on the first floor of the Southwest Grand Hotel, just off Matsuo Crossing in the middle of Kokusai-dori Avenue.
I have used the hotel’s restaurant several times before, but I did not realize that there was a Japanese restaurant on the first floor. It seems to be on the first floor of the property which is closer to Kokusai Dori.
The interior of the restaurant is chic and simple. The white curtain with the ▢ symbol on it is impressive.
There is only counter seating, and the rest is terrace seating built at the back of the property, from the Ryukyu limestone to the waterfall, where you can enjoy your meal while listening to the cool sound of the waterfall.
Point 2: Introduction of SHIKAKU’s Okinawa soba menu
SHIKAKU offers a menu of Okinawan soba from 11:00-14:30 (15:00 Close).
The restaurant used to be open only in the evening, but recently they have started serving Okinawan Soba on the lunch menu.
The menu includes
Soki Soba with Cartilage Soy Sauce
Juicy Set ¥1,600
Arthur Soba ¥1,500
Juicy Set ¥1,600
Yushi Tofu Soba ¥1,500
Juicy Set
The set can be changed with rice with Chubu-float tuna for +400 yen or rice with beef tendon and bean curd for +200 yen.
You can pour your soup stock from a kettle, which doubles the fun!
It is different from other Okinawa soba restaurants! It is different from other Okinawa soba restaurants!
The price is a little expensive for Okinawan soba, but you will be highly satisfied!
Point 3: Focus on value-priced courses! Introduction of SHIKAKU’s night menu
SHIKAKU is open from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. (LO).
As a casual Ryukyuan Japanese restaurant, we mainly offer Japanese courses. The atmosphere at night is also outstanding! We recommend it for a special night that you just can’t miss.
The menu includes the Agu Pork Shabu Shabu Course for two people (5,500 yen per person), Motobu (8,000 yen), and Nago (10,000 yen) courses.
For example, the Motobu course includes appetizers, sashimi, tempura, Saikyo yaki silver cod, grilled Japanese wagyu beef, seasonal rice, Kachuyu, seasonal fruits, and iced sweets.
The “Nago” course is a luxurious one, with four pieces of nigiri instead of sashimi, as well as unagi nigiri and shrimp tempura sushi.
The beverage selection is also truly extensive, including Orion beer, 75 beer, Okinawa Cliff beer, two cocktails, craft gin, four whiskeys, three wines, seven Japanese sakes, two sake varieties, ten awamori, nine shochu, two fruit wines, and eight non-alcoholic beverages.
It is good for a Japanese restaurant in a hotel to be able to enjoy Okinawa soba in the garden during the day and casual Japanese cuisine at the counter in the evening, without being overbearing.
