I was one of those people, but I discovered a long-established restaurant in Naha City called “George’s Restaurant,” which has been in business for 70 years. It is the first “A-sign” restaurant recognized by the U.S. military. Inside the restaurant, items that have been watching over Okinawa since the end of the war can be seen here and there.
The location is only 8 minutes from Naha Airport via Umisora Tunnel. It is located in Tsuji, Naha City, near Naha Cruise Terminal and Fukushuen. It is a 10-minute walk to Kokusai-Dori Street, so it is within walking distance.
There is also a “Sweets Specialized Unmanned Sweets Shop Naha,” where you can buy famous sweets from all over Japan, just around the corner!
There is also that very famous restaurant “Jackie Steak House” nearby.
The interior is reminiscent of a good old American diner, with brick walls and red-and-white checkered tablecloths. We are happy to see such a striking interior that reminds us of a good old American diner.

The menu at George Restaurant includes steak, tacos, fried shrimp and pork cutlets, soups, pizza, and other dishes.
The unusual dish pictured in the photo is the “intraday” (800 yen), a Mexican dish made by wrapping vegetables in fresh dough instead of frying the taco dough, and topping it with a generous amount of meat sauce.
The tacos are small in size, but the crispy skin is filled with taco meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and other vegetables. It tastes like you know the “real” taco. The toasted bread is also a nice touch, with a small slice of buttery French bread!
Lunch items are available from A to C, and the price of C is as low as 600 yen! If you don’t need a lot of food, this is a good choice.
They also have sandwiches, fried rice, taco rice, and curry, so it is really hard to decide which one to choose.
