It’s not a light meal at all! I want to fill my belly to the brim with bread at “Ruby, the Light Meal Restaurant.”

This restaurant is located along Route 58 in Tomari, Naha City, about 12 minutes by car from Naha Airport. Although it calls itself a “light meal,” it is not a light meal at all, but rather a restaurant with a large menu, which is well known among fans of Okinawan restaurants! The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, including the much talked about A Lunch. We recommend that you visit if you are a fan of Okinawan restaurants.

Point 1: On Route 58! What’s the location of “Ruby’s for Snacks?”

Ruby” is located along Route 58 in Tomari, Naha City.

When going to places such as Chatan or Ginowan, one often takes Route 58 instead of the highway, so you may have seen the distinctive orange sign.

Even though it is called Tomari in Naha City, this diner is close to Omoromachi and is easily accessible by car since it is located along Route 58.

By bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 120 bound for International Passenger Terminal (for Naha Bus Terminal), get off at Kaminoya (for Urasoe), and it takes about 5 minutes on foot to get there.

This diner is said to be the same diner that Namie Amuro used to go to when she was a student at Okinawa Actors School. It is interesting even if you are not a fan.

Point 2: What is the menu of “Ruby, the Light Food Restaurant” like?

Ruby is a typical Okinawan diner that can be found in many places in Okinawa.

The menu is very diverse, including a hearty lunch, Western dishes such as omelet rice and curry, Okinawan dishes such as chanpon, Champuru, and Okinawa soba, and taco rice.

If you come to Naha, it would be right to eat at these cheap and tasty restaurants rather than at crowded izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) that cater to tourists.

The A Lunch, in particular, is a huge portion that includes an oversized pork cutlet, hamburger steak, pork, ham, and fried egg! I couldn’t help but burst out laughing when it came out.

The amount of curry and rice was so large that the roux on the rice barely stopped at the edge of the plate, making it not a ” light meal” at all, but a “heavy meal.

It is not a “light meal” at all, but a “heavy meal. Or are they just trying to make people laugh?” With these thoughts in my mind, I moved my mouth, but my heart was about to give in to A Lunch, which did not seem to be decreasing at all.

However, as you move on to B and C lunches, the portions and prices go down, so if you are not confident that you can finish A lunch, why don’t you try this first?

Champuru ” is also a must-try menu item that is different from that of the mainland.

On the mainland, “chanpon” is a dish of soba (buckwheat noodles), as in Nagasaki’s specialty, but here in Okinawa, chanpon is a dish of rice.

Once you have completed your lunch of specialties, you can gradually try Okinawan cuisine and other dishes.

Point 3: “Ruby, the Light Food Restaurant” offers all-you-can-drink iced tea!

At “Ruby,” you can drink as much iced tea as you like.

It is self-serve, so you can drink as many refills as you like.

There is a corner of the restaurant where kettles and cups are piled up, so you fill your cup with ice and pour iced tea into it.

In addition to iced tea, there is also tea.

It is very moving to think that Amuro-chan used to quench her thirst here at the end of her lessons. Please visit there once!
