Ryukyu famous sweets “Kugani ya” was established in 2010 and is located in Tsuboya, Naha City, and sells Ryukyu famous sweets. In Okinawa, the word for “gold” is read as “Kugani”. It means “something precious and shining,” and it is said to express the desire to “deliver Ryukyu sweets that will be a treasure for future generations from Okinawa to Umanchu people all over the world.
The shop is located near Tsuboya Yachimun Street, making it an easy stopover during sightseeing in Naha.
The store also sells goods made by Yuka Aragaki, a Bingata artist. The packages of the sweets are designed by Yuka Aragaki.

Kugani Ya’s “Kugani Chinsuko
Chinsuko” is one of the traditional sweets made in Okinawa since the Ryukyu Dynasty.
Kugani Kugani’s “Kugani Chinsuko” is an excellent confectionery recommended by Okinawa Prefecture and won the “Gold Prize” at the 26th National Confectionary Exposition. The taste is so good that it is used for in-flight meals in ANA’s overseas business class. The vivid Bingata (red pattern) package with a premium feel makes it a perfect gift for your loved ones. You can choose from a large box containing plain flavors or an assortment of three types (plain, salt, and golden sesame) to suit any occasion.

Kugani Dinsuko” is the most famous confectionery at Kugani ya, but in fact, Ryukyu Poruboron is also a popular product. The Ryukyu Poruboron is an Okinawan version of the traditional Spanish pastry Polvoron. They come in two flavors, millet sugar, and Okinawan salt, and melt in your mouth with a light, sweet, and crispy texture. It is said that if you can chant “Poruboron” three times before it melts in your mouth, it will bring you happiness.
The package also has a luxurious feel and is recommended as a “confectionery that brings happiness” and for use as a gift for a wedding party or a private celebration.

The main store is located in Tsuboya, but several other stores carry Ryukyu’s famous sweets.
In Naha City, Department Store Liubou, Washita Shop Kokusai-Dori Store, Sanei Naha Main Place, and AEON Lycoming Store in the central part of Naha City are said to carry it. They are also available at all stores at Naha Airport, so please check them out. Some stores have a limited number of products, so if you happen to be in the area, we recommend the Tsuboya main store, which carries all products.
