Approximately 11 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is an American diner that opened in December 2021 in Tomari, Naha City. The pop-style exterior will make you feel excited even before you start to eat! The restaurant is sure to be a hit on Instagram.
Point 1: What is the location of Osakana Tiger, an American diner that also serves sushi?
Osakana Tiger” is located in the Tomari area near the center of Naha City, diagonally in front of Tomarin, where ferries to the outlying islands arrive and depart.
It is a 7-minute walk from Miebashi Station on the Yui Rail, so you can easily walk there from Kokusai-dori if you try hard.
The monotone scales and yellow neon “Osakana Tiger” letters float on the POP exterior!
I was already excited before entering the restaurant.
The interior is a “picture-perfect” 1950s American diner, with a black-and-white checkered counter and red stools that give it a deej (Okinawan dialect for “very”) American atmosphere!
American diners are usually known for hamburgers and tacos, but I never expected to find sushi and Obanzai here! It’s a fun place with a huge gap between the two.
Let’s push the shiny silver door and go inside!
Point 2: How can it be so cheap? Introducing the sushi menu at Osakana Tiger!
The sushi menu at Osakana Tiger is “limited time only” and includes 8 pieces of sushi, a roll, miso soup, and a small bowl of cooked food for 1,000 yen during lunchtime from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
This “Sushi Lunch” started in March 2024, but we are not sure how long it will last.
As you can see in the photo, there will be an all-you-can-eat “Father’s Day Eve Event Sushi & Obanzai” for 1,500 yen for adults at lunchtime and 1,800 yen for dinner time/980 yen for children, so it will continue until that day.
By holding these sushi-eating events in a guerrilla-like manner, we hope that they will continue for a long time, and not just for a limited time.
Point 3: Introduction of the non-sushi menu at Osakana Tiger!
Osakana Tiger” is an American diner, so of course we offer the standard American diner fare such as hamburgers, pasta, steak, and pizza.
The menu also features visually stunning dishes such as the 40-centimeter-long green garlic toast and the seared salmon rice bowl with ingredients so thick you can hardly see the rice. The thick rib steak weighs 250 grams and costs 2,480 yen. A heaping pile of golden shrimp is reasonably priced at 980 yen!
There are also ethnic dishes such as Balinese satay and Chinese-like dishes such as shrimp buns (both 580 yen)!
On the day of the Ox, the “Eel Bowl” is also available.
During happy hour, colorful cocktails are available.
Where else in the world can you find an American diner that serves sushi and other Japanese food, American food, ethnic food, and Chinese food together? The menu is flooded with anything and everything!
But if you think about it calmly, it must be hard for the cooks to make it.
Just sitting inside with POP is not only enjoyable but also energizing! Also, the taste is outstanding, so I guess you could say it is the only hidden hole in the wall. Please visit this place and enjoy yourself.
