About a minute’s drive from Naha Airport. This is a cafeteria in a renovated old private house in the town of Nambuhara in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island. If you are a tourist, you probably have never been to Nanpuhara Town, only passing nearby on the highway. In such a town that is not on the tourist route, there is an old private house Teishoku-ya with excellent service.
Point 1: Where is the town of Nanpuhara? What is the location of Komiya Restaurant?
Komiya Shokudo” opened 13 years ago in a 130-year-old old private house that was moved from Niigata. It is not an Okinawan house, but rather a slightly different kind of old private house with an overhanging second floor and a pilotis-like first floor.
Once inside, the high ceilings and thick black beams of pine and cypress wood give the interior a folk art-like feel with the weight of history.
Voices crackle and a breeze passes through, so it feels rather cool even without air conditioning.
Although this old private house was moved from Niigata, it must have been built to suit the Japanese climate.
Nambaebaru-cho is located east of Naha City, near Shuri, and is a long and narrow town. It is a town without sea, adjacent to Yaese Town, Nishihara Town, and Yonabaru Town in the south.
It is surprisingly close to Naha Airport, only 27 minutes by car. By bus, you can take Naha Bus No. 111 from Naha Airport Domestic Terminal and get off at “Naha Inter-mae (for Shuri Station),” which takes 17 minutes on foot, but you do not need to change buses.
Point 2: Introducing the popular menu of “Komiya Shokudo!
Komiya Shokudo offers a wide range of dishes, from rice bowls and curry to noodles, set menus, and children’s set menus. In addition, on weekdays, there is a “daily special set meal.
As is the case with all Okinawan restaurants, there is unfortunately no menu for those who want a “light meal.
They are all “heavy meals.
The most popular menu item is the “Tebichi no nitsuke & grilled fish set meal” (900 yen). As one would expect from an Okinawan restaurant, Tebichi was included.
The second most popular menu item is the “Soki Jiru Set Meal” (850 yen). This is also typical of Okinawa.
Third place went to the “2 kinds of fish set meal” (870 yen), which includes grilled fish and butter-broiled fish, which is typical of Okinawa. Butter-baked fish is very popular in Okinawa.
Further, down the countdown, the “Stir-fried vegetables and chicken with black vinegar set meal” (790 yen)l is the most popular among women!
And in fifth place is the “Black Soki Soba Set Lunch” (990 yen), with charred garlic as the key ingredient!
Isn’t it amazing that a set meal nowadays costs less than 1,000 yen? The taste is also highly rated by word of mouth, so you can eat with peace of mind. (Prices are subject to change without notice.)
Point 3: “Komiya Shokudo” and other menu items!
The photo shows the “Chanpon” set meal, which is almost always available at most Okinawan restaurants.
Komiya Shokudo also offers a chanpon set meal. Unlike Nagasaki’s chanpon, Okinawa’s chanpon is made with rice, not noodles.
There are also other standard set meals such as curry with vegetables for a day, Soki curry, garlic chicken, and fried
For and 11:30, you can try the “Passion Time,” which is limited to six types of set meals, including the Okinawa soba set meal, Yushi tofu set meal, and chicken fried chicken set meal, for a whopping 550 yen. ushi tofu set meal, and chicken fried chicken set meal, for a whopping 550 yen.
