It is about 17 minutes by car from Naha Airport. This cafe is located in Asato, Naha City. I went there thinking it was a café run by a grandma and grandpa, but was surprised to find a stylish modern café! It is part of a coworking space. It is part of a coworking space, but it is an oasis in Naha where you can relax.

Point 1: Almost on Kokusai Dori! What is the location of “Grandma’s Hideout”?

Grandma’s Hideout” is a cafe located in Asato, Naha City, only 17 minutes by car from Naha Airport.

When I went there, thinking of an old-fashioned coffee shop, I was surprised to find a stylish modern café!

It is a rented corner of the “Ichayun KANASA House,” which also has a coworking space and meeting rooms.

The coworking space itself is open year-round, but the cafe is closed on Sundays.

Sometimes only Grandpa, sometimes only Grandma, and sometimes one of them is not there.

Sometimes a foreigner comes in, and Grandpa uses a translation app to handle the situation.

From Naha Airport, take the Yui Rail and get off at Asato Station, then walk for 4 minutes, or take Ryukyu Bus No. 190 passing Kokusai-dori and get off at Asato Ichi-ku, then walk for 2 minutes to the restaurant.

Inside the store, Showa-era songs are played. I was surprised at the café-like interior that young people seem to like! What in the world is on the menu?

Point 2: Many young people’s menus! What is the recommended dining menu at “Grandma’s Hideout”?

Pictured is the “Not-So-Sweet French Toast” at lunchtime.

Grandma’s Hideout is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

From morning breakfast to lunch, and even burritos, tacos, and taco rice, there are many items on the menu that young people might like.

As one would expect from Okinawa, Grandma, and Grandpa have been familiar with tacos and taco rice since they were young. There is even a rare “horse meat taco” that my grandma used to eat when she was young.

There is also homemade bread, and to my surprise, they have ham and sausage bread from TESIO, a ham and sausage specialty store in Okinawa City.

There are also soups with unique names such as “Potato Soup I Raised My Grandpa” and “Pumpkin Curry Soup My Grandchildren Love.

Prices are reasonable: 450 yen for soup, 550 yen for a morning set, 1100 yen for a burrito, soup, and drink, and 1000 yen for a taco rice and drink!

I never thought I would be able to eat at such a reasonable price on the edge of Kokusai Dori! I can’t hide my amazement at such a reasonable price on the outskirts of Kokusai Dori.

Point 3: Very inexpensive! Grandma’s Hideout” Dessert and Drink Menu Introduction!

Grandma’s Hideout” offers tofu cake and banana cake (500 yen each) as desserts.

Many people say that the tofu cake is delicious to an impressive level! They say it is so rich that if you eat it right off the bat, you might mistake it for rare cheesecake.

The banana cake has a nostalgic taste. In the U.S., would you say it tastes like grandma’s?

Soft drinks such as coffee, tea, milk, ginger ale, and Sampincha are available for 350 yen. Orion beer is 500 yen.

Grandma’s Hideout” is located in a corner of a coworking space on the outskirts of Naha’s Kokusai Street! It is an oasis where you can’t hide your surprise.

Why don’t you relax while listening to Showa-era songs and enjoying delicious food and drinks prepared by grandma and grandpa? Please come and visit us.
