About 56 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is a shaved ice store in Katsuren Nanpuhara-cho, Uruma City, in the central part of Okinawa Island. From the name, you may think it is a supermarket or a community store, but to your surprise, it is a shaved ice store! The appearance of the shop is surprising. The shaved ice looks like a cake, so please try it and be amazed.

Point 1: In front of the remote island of Uruma! What is the location of “Kamimoto Shoten”?

Kamimoto Shoten” is a shaved ice store in Uruma City, central Okinawa Island.

It takes about 56 minutes from Naha Airport via Okinawa Expressway, and cars can be parked in the plaza across from the store.
By bus, first take the No. 120 Ryukyu Bus to the Kencho North Exit, then take the No. 27 bus bound for Yakeina Bus Terminal from the Okinawa Bus Stop located a minute’s walk away, get off at “Kamihaehara” (Kami-Nanpuhara), and walk 6 minutes to the store.

The bus requires at least one transfer and the ride is 2 hours long, so it is quite a long trip, but the sense of accomplishment upon arrival is not half bad.

The store we arrived at had an unassuming concrete exterior that looked like a community store, and the painted letters “Kangen Shouten” were peeling off. As expected, the store was in the grandmother’s store of the owner’s sisters.

It is a unique and unforgettable name for a shaved ice shop.

Point 2: The visual is like a cake! Introducing the popular shaved ice menu at Kamimoto Shoten!

Recently, more and more stores are offering unique shaved ice, and “Kamimoto Shoten” also offers quite unique shaved ice.

For example, the photo shows “Tiramisu,” but the coffee is originally roasted by Yamada Coffee Okinawa for Kamimoto Shoten.

The “Espuma” on top is the key point and looks delicious.

It is a wonder that the ingredients do not clash with each other, even though there is a good amount of filling inside, and the flavor of the ingredients is also very strong.

Other items such as milk tea raspberry, caramel nut Zenzai, and pumpkin brûlée (750-1,600 yen) are decorated to look like cakes and look very delicious.

When you try it, nuts, Gyuuhi, and coffee jelly appear from within the shaved ice, and you can enjoy the constantly changing textures of the shaved ice!

The “Japanese” element of shaved ice transformed into a “Western” style, like a cake, is also unusual and delicious, but the evolutionary shaved ice using Japanese ingredients such as Mitarashi soy sauce and black Soybean soybean Kinako is also innovative and delicious.

Since each shaved ice is handmade, it takes time to be served, so they have a system where you can leave your car number and name and they will call you when it is ready.

The interior of the store is simple and bare concrete, but you will not mind spending some time looking at the tastefully decorated items.

Point 3: Made of stainless steel with a beautiful form! About “Kamimoto Shoten” shaved ice spoons

The shaved ice spoons from “Kamimoto Shoten” are from a store called Grau.

It is a good size with a very thin handle and the dull shine of the stainless steel is beautiful. Not only is the shaved ice delicious, but the attention to detail in the container and cutlery is also wonderful!

It seems that these spoons are also sold in stores, so if you see them in a store and like them, you can buy them right away.

I am reminded of this store in Okinawa when I eat ice cream or Zenzai at home.

Kamimoto Shoten, located in Katsuren, Uruma City in the central part of Okinawa’s main island, is an evolutionary shaved ice store started by sisters who renovated what used to be their grandmother’s store.

Although there are only a few varieties, you can enjoy shaved ice with toppings and fillings like a cake, as well as Japanese-style shaved ice such as Mitarashi and black soybeans. All information is available on their official Instagram; you can also make reservations online. Please visit and have a look.
