About 19 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is a diner located in Yorimiya, Naha City. It is a locally-rooted diner where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine and other dishes at reasonable prices, with almost all of the hearty dishes priced at less than 1,000 yen.

Point 1: A little hard to get to? What is the location of Hacchan Diner?

Hachan Shokudo” is a local diner located in Yorimiya, Naha City.

At the entrance, there is a sign that reads, “We are short on staff and may cause inconvenience to our customers! The diner is probably running under a “one-operator” system.

Like other Okinawan restaurants, you buy a meal ticket first and place your order, but the restaurant has many seats for four people, some separated by partitions, and some in tatami rooms, giving it a semi-private room style and a sense of luxury.

It is about a 19-minute drive from Naha Airport. It is located between Tsuboya Yachimun Street and Shikinaen, so it is a little difficult to get to. There is a parking lot for 5-6 cars, so the first one to arrive should be the first one to park.

If you do not have a car, you can get off at “Asato Station” on the Yui Rail rather than by bus, and you can reach the store in 14 minutes on foot without having to change trains.

The rustic “Hachan Shokudo” signboard gives a sense of warmth from the wood. What kind of food will they serve? My heart is filled with anticipation.

Point 2: What is the recommended menu at “Hachan Shokudo”?

The menu at Hatchan Shokudo includes a wide variety of Okinawan dishes such as Chanpuru and Okinawa soba, set menus, Japanese dishes, and Western dishes, but the “Hatchan Special” (980 yen), which is a great value for money, is the most popular. (Prices may be subject to change).

This, along with the “Sukiyaki,” is the highest price among the many menu items! You can feel a sense of superiority that you are ordering the best.

There are many menus with pictures posted all over the place, and some menus do not have pictures.

Perhaps the regulars can order without pictures.

The water, tea, and iced tea, which is served in a large tank and self-pumped, are all you can drink. This alone makes it a good value, and yet the restaurant is a conscientious eatery where almost all dishes are available for less than 1,000 yen.

The “Hachan Special” is just as special as the name implies, consisting of several fried dishes such as tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and Karaage (deep-fried tofu), a fried egg, and rice.

The prices for Okinawan soba and other dishes start from as low as 200 yen, and curry, fried rice, pork and egg, and other dishes are priced at 650 yen! You will want to order several kinds of dishes, not just one more.

However, the portions are so large that even men cannot finish several dishes unless they are big eaters.

Point 3: What is the “Hachan Shokudo” ordering rule?

At Hacchan Shokudo, the process of buying a meal ticket and taking a seat is the same as at other Okinawan restaurants, but the ticket is handed to the waiter, who is called when the food is ready. This is not surprising considering the fact that the restaurant is almost a one-operator operation.

So, if you forget what you ordered and indulge in the all-you-can-drink iced tea, you will be stuck in a situation where you will never be able to get a meal.

Furthermore, you are required to clean up your dishes after eating, so be careful not to leave them unattended.

If the amount of food is too large for you to finish, what should you do?

Although it may seem like a self-service diner, the fact that they provide folding boxes for take-out shows that they are a warm and friendly diner that truly cares about their customers. You can see why so many customers keep coming back.

Hachan Shokudo, located in Yorimiya, Naha City, is an Okinawan diner that offers unlimited iced tea, large portions of food, and all meals for less than 1,000 yen.

Although its location on the outskirts of Naha gives the impression that it is difficult to get to, there is no harm in going there, so please give it a try.
