Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from Naha Airport via Okinawa Expressway. This Italian restaurant is near the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Motobu-cho, northern Okinawa Island. Most of the menu items are under 1,000 yen, although they are very hearty and tasty! It is so cheap that it is almost laughable, but it has a strong following among fans.
Point 1: Surprisingly accessible? What is the location of “Radish”?
Radish” is an Italian restaurant located in Motobu-cho, in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
It is located a 12-minute walk from the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium or a 5-minute drive. It is located in a very scenic area with the Ocean Expo Park observation deck in sight nearby.
It takes 1 hour and 46 minutes from Naha Airport. Note that it will take about 30 minutes longer via Route 58! There is a parking lot just up the hill from the restaurant, so it is safe to access by car.
For buses, it is located near a major tourist attraction called “Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium,” so it is surprisingly easy to access.
First, take the Okinawa Airport Shuttle (OAS/RSL-RP) from Naha Airport, get off at “Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium Memorial Park Mae”, and you will reach the restaurant in 5 minutes on foot.
Best of all, you can come here on one trip without changing trains, and the fare is more than 800 yen cheaper than that of a local bus!
Point 2: All of them are delicious, but all of them are explosively cheap! Introduction to the “Radish” menu!
Pasta and pizza are the main items on the “Radish” menu.
For example, the Pescatore pictured in the photo comes with a main dish, salad, and a drink for 400 yen at lunchtime, a price that is not even drinkable these days.
It is a laughable price, but at least it was this price until August 2024.
The cod roe and squid pasta also had no fishy smell at all, but I was told that they put a twist on it by sprinkling some seekwurst on top at the end.
I guess they have confidence that they can be popular even at this price because of their solid technique backed by experience.
Even outside of lunchtime, the Margherita pizza is priced at 890 yen and the beef stew at 1100 yen, which are also unbelievable prices! Even in northern Okinawa, where prices are lower than in Naha, I worry that it would be unprofitable.
And those with children will readily say, “We can make it without spices! They are also very helpful and kind to those with children.
This kind of attention to detail is probably one of the reasons why the restaurant is so popular.
However, please note that payment is cash only, so if you are a cashless person, please be careful!
Point 3: In fact, there are many places of interest you can enjoy for free! Tourist information around “Radish
There are many tourist attractions and delicious cafes near “Radish”.
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is a 12-minute walk away, but the Tropical Dream Center, which can be seen just around the corner, is an 11-minute walk. Bise Fukugi Namiki is a 5-minute drive or 24-minute walk away.
At the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, you can see manatees and whale sharks in the “Sea of Coral” and “Sea of Tropical Fish” tanks from above, dolphin shows in the “Oki-chan Theater,” manatee pavilions, sea turtle pavilions, etc., for “free.
The “Coastal Walkway” offers a spectacular view, and the “Omoro Botanical Garden” and “Okinawa Folk Village” are also free despite their rich contents!
There are also some great cafes around Fukugi Namiki, such as Ryuka, Okinawan Sun, and Chahayaburan, so please be sure to visit them!
