Approximately 1 hour and 34 minutes by car from Naha Airport. A villa just opened in September 2024 on Kouri Island in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island. The concept of the villa is “a garden where you can stay,” and you can stay in an environment full of nature as if you were staying in a garden.
Point 1: Southern part of Kouri Island! What is the location of YARN YARD?
YARN YARD” is a villa with the concept of a ‘garden you can stay in’ located on Kouri Island in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
It just opened in September 2024. The building materials and foodstuffs are also locally sourced, to let people know the good qualities of the local Kouri Island.
From Naha Airport, it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car via Okinawa Expressway. If via Route 58, it will take an extra 30 minutes.
By bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 111 or other buses to Ikemuto, and from there take the Yanbaru Express Bus to the Ikemuto stop, which is a 1-minute walk from the Nakijin Village Office. Then transfer to the YKB4T Yanbaru Express Bus and get off at “near the Cradle of Humanity Island Monument”. It is a 6-minute walk to the inn.
It takes a little longer to get there, but that is why the place is so rich. The sense of accomplishment you feel when you arrive and the view of the great nature will surely blow away your fatigue.
Point 2: Quite well designed! Introduction of rooms in “YARN YARD”!
YARN YARD” has a total of eight rooms: a sea-side twin, a king, a Japanese-style room/king, a connect, and a mountain-side twin and king, all designed semi-outdoors.
All rooms range in size from 85 to 200 square meters when the terraces are combined, allowing guests to directly experience nature in a relaxing and spacious environment.
All rooms except the Japanese-style rooms have private pools.
The building materials and tatami mats, as well as the interior design, were created after many meetings with local artists. It can be said that the villa was made possible because of our commitment to the land as if we were in dialogue with the nature of the land.
Point 3: Introduction of “YARN YARD” food and amenities
At “YARN YARD,” the concept is “someday it will be your body (Kusuimun),” and they take very good care of local vegetables and fruits.
Breakfast is included in the room charge and dinner is optional, both of which are brought to your room.
Breakfast choices are “Yagaji Island Salted Salmon Breakfast,” “Homemade Sandwich Breakfast,” and “Boro Boro Jushi Breakfast (Zosui).
For dinner, you can choose from “Island pork and watercress hot pot”, “Miso-glazed grilled meat and marsh stew”, and “Island vegetable chura vegetarian dish”.
You can choose your favorite breakfast, but the dinner menu is the same for each group.
Each meal is served in a paulownia wood box and is visually very beautiful!
Enjoying a meal made from island ingredients on the terrace of a room filled with nature is a very tasty and precious experience.
Amenities include not only all the appliances necessary for daily life, but also tableware, kitchen appliances, insect-repellent equipment, blankets, a washer/dryer, loungewear, and kids’ toys.
It is nice to have amenities that you don’t have to worry about when spending time outdoors.
