About a minute’s drive from Naha Airport. This diner is located in Wakasa, Naha City, where you can enjoy Okinawan and Nepalese cuisine. It seems that the name of this diner came from the fact that many of its employees are Nepalese. It is a unique diner where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine that is second to none and authentic Nepalese cuisine at the same time.

Point 1: Where exactly is “Wakasa Shokudo”? How to get there?

It is located on the first floor of a hotel called Victoria Hotel. Across the street is the APA Hotel.

Wakasa Shokudo is an Okinawan and Nepalese restaurant located in Wakasa, near the cruise terminal in Naha City.

Why Nepal in Okinawa? You may wonder why Nepal is in Okinawa, but Naha City and Nepal established a friendship in 2015, and have accepted students from Nepal to study karate, etc., and friendship events with Nepal are held at the nearby Wakasa Community Center.

Okinawa has always been a “crossroads of Asia,” with exchange with Fujian Province in China and other Asian countries, and the presence of U.S. military bases in the area has introduced American culture, so the hurdles to foreign cultures are probably low.

It also seems that this restaurant has become a place of refuge for Nepalese people living in Okinawa.

This trend is also evident in terms of food culture, as they seem to rather enjoy making “Chanpuru” out of anything.

Because of this history, it is not strange to see Okinawan and Nepalese food served at the same time. It may be that people from mainland Japan are more stubborn and cannot break out of common sense.

This restaurant is only a 6-minute drive from Naha Airport via the Uzumira Tunnel.

By bus, take the Tokyo Bus (TK01 or 02) and get off at “Naha Commercial High School Mae”. It is a 7-minute walk to the restaurant.

It is located on the first floor of the Victoria Hotel, with APA Hotel across the street and Lawson conveniently located diagonally across the street. Diagonally across the street is a convenient Lawson!

Located in a residential area, it takes less than 10 minutes to walk to Kokusai-dori Street, so the location is not that inconvenient.

Point 2: Okinawan cuisine and Nepalese food! Introduction of the “Wakasa Shokudo” menu!

As shown in the photo, the menu at Wakasa Shokudo includes a set menu of Okinawan soba noodles and seafood that is comparable to other Okinawan restaurants, as well as Chanpon, Soki soup, pork and egg dishes, and other items normally found in Okinawan restaurants.

Even more unique are the dishes such as “momos,” Nepal’s national dish shaped like dumplings, tandoori chicken, and curry with fried shrimp and pork cutlet on top, which are eaten in Nepal, and many people would rather visit the restaurant for these dishes.

The service is impeccable and the concern is warm, making it a very cozy and homey place.

The food is comparable to that served in Okinawan restaurants, in fact, it is even higher grade, but the Nepalese cuisine is also very authentic.

The prices are about 1.2 percent lower than those of ordinary restaurants. Nowadays, it is nice to know that there are many dishes that can be eaten for less than 1,000 yen.

Steaks are also available, ranging from 1,100 yen for 150 grams to 2,500 yen for 400 grams, and the fact that they are extremely inexpensive is also a high point.

Point 3: Drinks are also very inexpensive at Wakasa Shokudo!

Wakasa Shokudo has a very wide variety of drinks, including alcohol.

For example, “Orion Beer,” a staple in Okinawa, starts at 350 yen. Draft beer is also available for 500 yen.

San-Pin-Hi and highballs are 400 yen. Soft drinks such as lassi start at 350 yen.

With this, even if you eat and drink to your heart’s content, you will be full for only 2,000 yen per person.

With the food and service top-notch and inexpensive, is it just me or do you think it would be bad if the restaurant becomes too famous and crowded?

Anyway, this restaurant is delicious and easy on the wallet, so please come and try it for yourself.
