Garyu-ya” is a restaurant in Nakagusuku Village in the central part of Okinawa’s main island, about 30 minutes by car from Naha Airport, that serves delicious Tsukemen. In addition to Nakagusuku Village, there are several other chain restaurants on the main island of Okinawa, but they are almost unknown to tourists, so if you know of this place, you will feel like a loco.

Point 1: What is the location of Nakagusuku Village’s “Garyu-ya”?

Garyu-ya” is a specialty restaurant specializing in Tsukemen (Tsukemen noodles).

There are several stores in Okinawa Prefecture, including Awase, Urasoe, and Ginowan, and locals are familiar with these stores, which are used by locals on a daily basis.

It takes about 30 minutes from Naha Airport via Route 330.

By bus, take Naha Bus No. 111 and get off at “Ryudai Iriguchi” (University of the Ryukyus entrance), which takes 25 minutes on foot, but you can get there without changing buses. Or you can take Naha Bus No. 97, which also passes Kokusai-dori, from the Kencho North Exit or Hotel Collective on Kokusai-Dori, and get off at “Ryudai Higashi Exit”, and the restaurant can be reached in 1 minute on foot.

The exterior has a very nice atmosphere with its typical Okinawan red-tiled houses. The interior is surprisingly modern café-style, with comfortable indirect lighting and a very relaxing atmosphere.

There is even a third parking lot behind the restaurant, so it is safe to go there by car.

Point 2: Introduction of Tsukemen & Ramen at “Garyu-ya”!

Garyu-ya” is one of the best Tsukemen and Ramen restaurants in Okinawa.

It is so good that a collaboration product was released by Okinawa Famima.

Many of the customers are locals, and the restaurant seems to be almost unknown to tourists.

Tsukemen is a simple noodle dish that is thick like udon noodles and served with vegetables and Ajitama (seasoned egg).

The dipping sauce is thick with chicken broth and is characterized by the cubes of Chashu pork in it.

Perhaps because there is a University of the Ryukyus nearby and many young people come here, the tsukemoto is thick with orthodox pork bone and seafood broth, but it is not so thick that it makes one thirsty.

Tsukemen is also available as a set that includes fried bean curd, rice, and even pudding.

An example of ramen with surprisingly thin noodles is the Toma Miso Cheese Ramen, which has a rich miso soup with an irresistible cheese and tomato flavor. Rice is served with the ramen during lunchtime, so it can be eaten as a Western-style rice porridge at the end of the meal.

The toppings include Ajitama (seasoned egg), Chashu (pork), naruto (pork belly), and olives, which is a Western-style topping!

Garyu-ya” is one of the best Tsukemen and Ramen restaurants in Point 3: What else is on the “Garyu-ya” Tsukemen and Ramen menu?

In addition to Tsukemen and ramen, Garyu-ya offers a variety of other menu items.

First of all, for toppings, you can get seasoned eggs, more Chashu pork, a large portion, or even a double portion for 120 yen.

The menu is unique in that it also includes grilled stones, split soup, seasoned garlic, hair bands, and paper aprons free of charge!

In addition, fried foods such as fried chicken, meat, and cheese spring rolls, and rice dishes such as rice, fried meat rice, and egg rice.

Desserts such as smooth pudding and half-boiled cheese are also available for 240 yen.

Garyu-ya” is a restaurant in Nakagusuku Village in the central Okinawa main island that serves not only Tsukemen and ramen, but also customizable ramen with toppings, large portions, doubled balls, fried chicken, cheese, spring rolls, and other items that are truly ‘my style’ of ramen. The restaurant is so popular that it is fully booked as soon as it opens, but it is worth a visit.

Please come and try it for yourself.
