It takes about 1 hour and 12 minutes by car from Naha Airport. The beach is located on the east coast of Hamahika Island, the closest of the four islands off the coast of Uruma City in the central part of Okinawa’s main island. Although it is a remote island, it is connected to the main island by a bridge, so it takes only a little over an hour to get there from the airport. The scenery of protruding rocks, which is typical of Okinawa, is also rare!

Buses are a bit more difficult to get to the island. Regular buses run until before Hainaka Road, but beyond that point, local community buses are available and their frequency is limited.
Even so, it takes only 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to the island, which is one of the closest ones among the remote islands.

The beach is slightly off the main road, so after parking your car, you will have to pass through a thick tropical vegetation for a while. As we continued along the roadless road, we began to wonder if this was the right road to take. The blue ocean that met our eyes was a sight to behold.
As is typical of Okinawa, large stones that were washed away by an ancient earthquake are scattered along the beach and in the ocean, and you can feel that you are in Okinawa.
Hamaigashima Island is visited by not a few people who like spirituality, but some say that the vibrations are good.
From such people’s point of view, it may be outrageous to do marine activities here, but swimming is not prohibited. However, considering the nearby power spots such as Amamichu’s Tomb and Silmichu, it is considered better to be moderate.
Point 3: What are some places to see and eat near “kaneku beach”?
Hamahika Island, where “kaneku beach” is located, is known as the island where the legend of Adam and Eve, the Ryukyuan version of the creation of Ryukyu, remains.
For this reason, the island is dotted with many power spots, including the tombs of Silmichu and Amamichu.
Even if you are not a spiritual person, you should visit the island at least once to feel the solemn atmosphere.
The island is also known for its delicious seafood, so be sure to try the tempura at Maruyoshi Shokuhin in the northern part of the island, or the Okinawan soba and jimmy tofu at Teerabui, an old private house restaurant!
