Waterfalls with abundant waterfalls that allow visitors to experience the richness of nature

Hichi-Otaki Falls is located in Kunigami Village in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island. It takes about one and a half hours from Naha via the Okinawa Expressway.

Hichi Great Falls is the largest waterfall on the main island at 25.7 meters high and has an abundance of water.

There is also a campground where visitors can experience the rich nature of Yanbaru in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island and enjoy outdoor activities and recreation.

Toilets and showers are available, so visitors can enjoy themselves at the waterfall to the fullest and change out of wet clothes.

Admission is 100 yen for adults and 50 yen for children for village residents. Those outside the village can enter for 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. Free parking is also available.

Point 1: Walk along the well-maintained promenade to Hichi-Otaki Waterfall.

A well-maintained trekking course leads to Hichi Great Falls. On the way, you can see the Hichi River from a suspension bridge and an area where you can play in the river.

After about 40 minutes of walking in the rich nature of Yanbaru, you will arrive at your destination, Hichi-Ohtaki Waterfall.

You can feel the negative ions from the surrounding trees as you are splashed by the water flowing from a height of 25.7 meters, the largest on the main island.

Families with small children can safely walk to the falls on the well-maintained promenade.

Point 2: You can also stay overnight at the attached campground.

You can stay overnight or have a BBQ at the campground attached to the campground.

You can use rental BBQ sets in the cooking building to BBQ and cook meals. There is no store, so you will need to buy and bring your food.

However, tents are not available for rent, so you will need to bring your own.

There are toilets and showers for a fee, so even if you are not a guest, you can enjoy the water play area on the trekking course and then take a shower before returning home.

Point 3: You may encounter forest creatures on the boardwalk.

Walking through the rich nature of Yanbaru toward Hichi-Otaki Waterfall, you may encounter the “Hon-toa Red Beard,” which is said to be a guide of the forest.

Also, “Shiriken Newts,” “Ryukyu Yamatame” and “Hanasaki Toads” live here, and if you are lucky, you may be able to see them.

The “Okinawa rail” lives in the downstream section where the water play area is located, and although it is rarely seen, its call can be heard from time to time.
