Ishiki Beach is located on the island of Nanjo City in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island. It is a 45-minute drive from Naha Airport to Tokujin Port on Kuko Island by boat from Ajama Port. Another 6 minutes by car will take you to Ishiki Beach. Just a short distance from the main island, the water is amazingly clear! The beach with its craggy stones has a sacred atmosphere.

Point 1: Ishiki Beach is a sacred island with a venerable history where even the king stopped by.

Ishiki Beach belongs to Nanjo City in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island. Legend has it that one day a jar containing five grains flowed from Niraikanai, an ideal world, from Ajama Port in Nanjo City to Ishiki Beach, and that the grains then spread to Kutaka Island and the main island of Okinawa. This is a sacred place where the king of the former Kingdom of Ryukyu used to stop by and hold ceremonies.

Ishiki Beach is the most powerful and the best power spot in Kutakashima. It is different from other power spots of fashion.

The water is emerald green and very clear, but it is not a sandy beach but a wild beach with rugged stones. It has an atmosphere similar to that of the Big Island of Hawaii, where ceremonies are held on the beach.

Swimming is prohibited because it is a sacred place. But local guides recommend that you go there by dipping your feet in the water to purify them.

Point 2: Bicycle rental is recommended on Kutaka Island, where Ishiki Beach is located!

Kutaka Island, where Ishiki Beach is located, is long and narrow in shape with a circumference of 8 km. It takes only one hour to reach the edge of the island by bicycle.

Ishiki Beach is best reached by bicycle from the harbor.

We recommend renting a bike for 300 yen per hour at the place on the left after getting off the ferry and going up the hill. The extension is 250 yen.

There is also a café here, and the local atmosphere is full of local grandmothers!

If you are tired after renting a bicycle and touring around the island, it would be nice to join the locals for a cup of tea.

You can rent a bicycle and have a cup of tea with the locals when you get tired of circling the island. Even in Okinawa, there is an atmosphere that you cannot get in Naha or the west coast tourist areas.

Point 3: Ishiki Beach is a petit “Churaumi Aquarium”?

Swimming is not allowed at Ishiki Beach, but if you can, you should sit on the rocks and observe the creatures.

Since Ishiki Beach is quite far into the shallows, you will be able to spot a variety of creatures even within the range of the naked eye.

For example, large crabs and crayfish, bluefish that are not found on the mainland, large sea cucumbers, starfish, and hermit crabs. You will be amazed at how many creatures can be found in such shallow water!

Amazingly, you can experience a “petit Churaumi Aquarium” feeling just by sitting on the rocks!

However, please note that because this is a sacred place, it is forbidden to take out even a single pebble or pebble of sand, not to mention any living creature.
