Alaha Beach is located in Chatan Town in the south-central part of Okinawa Prefecture. The beach is located along the west coast, about 40 minutes by car from Naha Airport on National Route 58 heading north.
The beach, which has a 600-meter-long white sand beach, has playground equipment for children and a 3-on-3 basketball court, and is a popular driving and date spot for Okinawan residents.
Since it is near Mihama American Village, Alaha Beach is definitely recommended if you are planning to visit Okinawa or spend a hotel stay in Chatan Town! You will have a wonderful time watching the sunset as it falls on the west coast, and you will lose track of time.
It’s like a California beach!

The area around Alaha Beach is home to many foreigners. In the adjacent Aranami Park, you can see palm trees lined with foreigners, Okinawan locals jogging, and children enjoying basketball.
Alaha Beach is like California, crowded with people enjoying the beach life in bees ants and shorts with coffee or beer in hand!
On weekends, flea market events and American sweets sales are held irregularly at the nearby Humvee Market.
I feel like a captain! The Indian Oak.
There is a playground called “Indian Oak” at Alaha Beach.
The Indian Oak was a British ship that ran aground off the coast of Chatan in the 18th century, and the people of Chatan rescued the crew and provided them with food, clothing, and shelter until they returned home.
The playground equipment, which is based on the Indian Oak, is a popular spot for children to play, with mini-bouldering and Tarzan ropes. Looking out over the waters of Alaha Beach from the ship, you can feel like a pirate king.
Marine activities are abundant!
Alaha Beach offers a wide variety of marine activities to enjoy the blue waters of Okinawa!
There are banana boats pulled by a jet ski, parasails that allow you to walk on the ocean while feeling the Okinawan breeze, and jet skis for two that can be enjoyed by parents and children, even by small children. If you have come all the way to Okinawa, you will have even better memories if you burst out and try marine activities! For information on marine activities, please check the website of “Chatan Kaijin no Kai”.
