Located in Matsuo, Naha City, about 11 minutes by car from Naha Airport and close to Tsuboya Yachimun Street, this is a health-conscious Okinawan restaurant in a 50-year-old private house in a fashionable neighborhood. It is not suitable for those who want to eat a hearty meal, but it is recommended for those who want to eat Okinawan food in style.

Point 1: “Ameiro Shokudo” – Unlikely! A health-conscious Okinawan restaurant!

In Okinawa, most of the restaurants are places where you can eat a hearty meal, and it is usually the grandmother who is running the place.

But here at “Ameiro Shokudo,” a 50-year-old old private house, the first floor is the diner and the second floor is the cafe.

Cacti and antique tools are placed around the entrance, which makes one feel excited. Once inside, the antique-style interior is as stylish as you would expect! The owner and his wife have displayed their favorite antiques.

The menu also features health-conscious Okinawan cuisine with a focus on fish and pork using local ingredients.

The set menus are served on stylish trays and cost around 1,000 yen, and include grilled fish, rice, a small bowl of cooked food such as carrot shiri-shiriri, pickles, and six or seven soups such as kachuyu (a soup stock made with soy sauce and sugar).

The volume is just right for a woman to eat, so it is not a hearty meal, but it is perfect for those who are satisfied with just the right amount of tasty food.

Point 2: The home-roasted coffee at Ameiro Shokudo is also excellent!

Here at Ameiro Shokudo, you can also enjoy home-roasted coffee at the cafe on the second floor. The coffee is made to order and hand-dripped from home-roasted organic beans, making it a very authentic coffee.

Perhaps it is the owner and his wife’s policy of not wanting to cut corners in any way that allows them to go to such great lengths despite their popularity.

We also recommend daily homemade sweets such as macaroons and florentines to go along with the coffee!

Point 3: Some people take out their food at “Ameiro Shokudo” and make it into “Soraben”!

At Ameiro Shokudo, you can also take out takeout. For this reason, many people order in advance and eat it as an “empty bento” on the last day of their trip to Okinawa.

Although there are many bentos of Okinawan specialties available at airports, many people choose this bento as the last meal of their trip to Okinawa, which means that it has a lot of fans.

The round, the wappa-style container makes you want to keep it!
