Gourmet restaurant in Tomari, Naha, opening January 1, 2023. Genius in using spices well! It’s also a 13-minute drive to Naha Airport, so you can take out and make a “sky bento” on your way home! The stylishness of the store is also great!

Point 1: Is “mimitab” a spice cafe? Notice the stylish storefront!

mimitab” is not just a café, but a “spice café.

This is because it uses several spices on its menu.

The exterior looks like a Parisian cafe. The interior also has a relaxing, natural taste, which is a favorite of girls.

Just like the Silk Road, Asia was the source of spices, which spread to Europe and America through the Spice Road in the 16th century.

At mimitab, we offer spicy Asian cuisine with a nod to Okinawa, which in the same era as the Ryukyu Dynasty was not closed off to the rest of the world like the mainland, but focused on trade with Asia.

Is it too much to think that serving Asian cuisine while the exterior and interior are in the style of a Parisian café is typical of Okinawa, which has embraced the Chanpuru culture?

But definitely, they have a strong attachment to Okinawa and Asia!

Point 2: The plates used in “mimitab” are Okinawan “Yachimun

The plates used at mimitab, a cafe serving spicy Asian cuisine, are Okinawan yachimun (pottery).

Yachimun in Naha now range from traditional to modern and artistic, but the yachimun here seem to fall somewhere in between.

The works of Maruka Pottery Studio and other artists such as Yojiro Kimura and Koguma Dochi are amazing because they perfectly match the atmosphere of Asian cuisine!

Point 3: What is lunch like at “mimitab”?

The “mimitab” lunch menu (1,320 yen including tax) changes from time to time.

This time, the menu item is “Taiwanese Chicken with Five Spice Powder. Five-spice powder, a spice that is a staple in the cuisine of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other Chinese countries, is used.

Sometimes it is “Singapore Chicken – 4 kinds of side dishes,” which seems to be the main dish of Asian cuisine.

The yachimun, which gives an oriental feel that is perfect for Asian dishes, is wonderful!

This dish comes with a soup called “Dal Soup,” and when served over rice, it feels like a curry that is gentle on the stomach. It is spicy and tantalizing.

The main dish, chicken, is large, moist, and delicious! The aroma of five-spice powder spreads in your mouth.

Desserts are available at an extra charge, but the names are also very appealing, such as “Seasonal Fruit Cottle Curls” and “Basque-style Cheese Terrine” (473 yen including tax).

The sweetness is gentle and neutralizes the slightly spicy dishes! I wish they would add dessert to the “Daily Gohan” menu, because I don’t need that much of it!

Other menu items include “2 kinds of curry of the day” (1,320 yen including tax) and “1 kind of curry of the day” (1,100 yen including tax).
