About 90 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is a private villa for one couple per day, located just a minute’s walk from the affiliated hotel, EMIL NAKIJIN. As the villa is nicknamed “an art museum where you can stay overnight,” the building, furnishings, and artwork scattered throughout the grounds are wonderful! You can enjoy an artistic space amid nature.
No.1: Reason why “MAKINA NAKIJIN”, an art museum where you can stay overnight, was created.その1:泊まれる美術館『MAKINANAKIJIN』の作られた理由
MAKINA NAKIJIN” is an artistic private villa opening in March 2022, located a minute’s walk from the affiliated hotel “EMIL NAKIJIN”.
If “EMIL NAKIJIN” is a villa that blends into the landscape with its stylish and overwhelming presence, “MAKINA NAKIJIN” can be described as a private villa that coexists with nature.
Guests can enjoy the beauty of the insects, birds, wind, light, and the entire forest without being disturbed by anyone in a completely private space.
In Okinawa, where highly airtight and insulated concrete houses with inner-city specifications are becoming more and more common, the villa was created to allow a pleasant breeze to pass through even in the height of summer, so that the guests can feel nature.
The slightly complicated shape of the building is also a wonderful design, and was awarded the “Good Design Award” for the year 2022.
細No.2: Room specification details for “MAKINA NAKIJIN
MAKINA NAKIJIN” has a site area of approximately 704 square meters and a building area of approximately 185 square meters.
The property includes two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, pond, private pool, and studio, as well as an outdoor living area on a large terrace.
The living room is decorated with warm wood and natural materials, and is furnished with couches and lounge chairs so that you can enjoy the view to your heart’s content.
In the outdoor living room, a fireplace can be lit at night or on chilly days. You can even enjoy a little glamping experience.
Not only the nature in front of you, but also the furniture, artifacts, and plants are beautiful and make your stay worthwhile. It is as if you are in a museum just by staying here.
The space with the kitchen and dining table made of warm wood and simple marble is worth seeing because you can enjoy the nature of Nakijin while staying in your room.
The two bedrooms, hikari and kage, are designed to be appropriately small and surrounded by walls, and are also furnished with special aromas that will help you fall into a deep sleep.
The most artistic of all, the cavernous open-air bath, is a direct reflection of the ocean’s changing colors, the sky’s reflection in the water, and the echoes of birdsong, allowing you to enjoy your bath time naked to the core.
The large garden terrace under the roof connecting each room is furnished with outdoor beds, and beyond the beautiful infinity pool lies the emerald green ocean.
You will truly lose track of time here.
It is such a beautiful space, it would be a waste to stay only one night!
No.3: Dining at “MAKINA NAKIJIN” is also enjoyable!
At MAKINA NAKIJIN, breakfast is served in the villa, but for dinner, you will have to ask for an on-site chef.
Breakfast is also unique, and you can experience cooking rice over a charcoal fire. As I repeatedly mumble to myself, “Bring the water to a boil, then steam it over low heat for 8 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of steaming,” and “Grill the fish in the meantime,” I find myself feeling like I am completely glamping.
Boiling water in a copper pot, brewing coffee with a wooden dripper, and drinking it in a chic yachimun bowl will taste many times better than coffee brewed in a normal pot.
The traveling chef, who charges an additional 20,000 yen per person, serves Okinawan cuisine made from a variety of ingredients on a board in a new style that will make you squeal with delight at the feast that fills your table.
This will be a one-of-a-kind experience as well.
