Only 15 minutes drive from Naha Airport! Located in Higawa-Noren Plaza, Naha City, this Taiwanese sweets store will open in November 2021. The spacious interior has a 100% Asian atmosphere! There are many varieties of bean-flavored sweets, but there are also many food items on the menu, so you can enjoy the authentic taste of Taiwan to your heart’s content.

Point 1: The location of “Taiwan Bean Blossom Shop” is in that “Noren Plaza”!

Enter the street next to Don Quijote on Kokusai-dori Avenue in Naha, and walk straight ahead for about 10 minutes with Makishi Public Market by your side. The famous building along the main street is “Noren Plaza”.

A short walk will take you to “Naha Yachimun Street,” a calm and quiet area lined with traditional Okinawan houses and, in contrast to the hustle and bustle of Kokusai-Dori, many fashionable restaurants.

Noren Plaza” is the place to go if you are looking for something a little geekier in Okinawan souvenirs, from food and other retailers to restaurants and wholesale vendors.

The “Taiwan Tofu Haya” is located at the entrance of the “Nouren Plaza” and is a very easy-to-find location for Taiwanese desserts.

Point 2: What is the “Taiwanese Tofu Flower Shop’s” tofu menu like?

The signature item on the menu at “Taiwan Tofu Shop” is the Taiwanese sweet “Tofu Flower” (豆花).

In a word, it is a slightly sweet bean curd sweet. It is popular not only in Taiwan but also in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other Chinese countries.

If you have never had it before, you may wonder what kind of sweet tofu is, but once you try it, you will be addicted to its gentle, slightly sweet taste.

There are seven types of tofu on the menu, including the standard “peanut tofu,” “Ximeiro tofu (with tapioca),” the Okinawan brown sugar Ximeiro tofu and adzuki bean (both 450 yen), and the Xishi tofu (without peanuts, 400 yen). It is nice that there is also a peanut-free version for those with peanut allergies!

Unusually, there are not only sweets, but also rice-type soybean flour.

The prices are very reasonable, so even if you order two rice dishes and two desserts, it will not affect your wallet!

Point 3: “Taiwan Bean Blossom Shop” also has rice dishes and desserts!

The “Taiwanese Soy Bean Blossom Shop” also offers rice-style soybean flour.

This may come as a bit of a culture shock to those who only know of sweet bean-flavored tofu!

But it seems to be a common dish in the Chinese-speaking world.

The rice dish on the menu at Taiwan Soy Bean Sauce Shop is the Meat Soup with Soy Bean Sauce (450 yen).

Other items on the menu include wonton soup (300 yen), rou roe rice (450 yen), xiaolongbao (450~500 yen), and shrimp siu mai (500 yen). The xiaolongbao and shao mai are authentic, yet reasonably priced!

Taiwan shaved ice is also available, and the fluffy pink shaved ice that looks like thinly sliced ham is “Strawberry Milk” (500 yen), which can be topped with mango for an additional 200 yen.

Another unusual dessert is a combination of Okinawa zenzai and shaved ice, which is so visually appealing that it often makes one’s eyes water.
