A 1-hour drive from Naha Airport, this 3-room accommodation facility opened in March 2020 in Maeda, Onna Village, with a focus on architectural design! You can enjoy the extraordinary luxury of doing nothing at all.

Point 1: What are the rooms like at “Vacation House Blue, Blue, White, and Okinawa”?

Vacation House Blue, Blue, White, and Okinawa” has a unique shape from its exterior, and you can sense the attention to detail in its architectural design.

The owner wanted to create an “extraordinary” space based on his experience in launching Disney Sea and sought an architect who could make it a reality.

Designed by Hiroshi Nakamura, one of Japan’s leading architects, the Okinawan red clay-colored building was designed to give a sense of “island wind,” and the lobby has an atrium and an impressive water basin on the first floor, where light has time to enter and create a water crest with the wind.

The guest rooms, which can accommodate up to three groups per day and up to four people per room, are based on the same concept, and are unique, first of all, from the entrance! The entrance is designed in the image of “Kami Ashagi,” an Okinawan worship hall, and you enter with your head down and your back bent over, just like the nigirizushi entrance to a tea ceremony room.

The guest rooms also have wind chimneys (kaze-toshi) up to 8 meters high and high windows to allow the wind to blow through.

The 28-square-meter space also has a Japanese-style room with a futon laid out for you to rest on.

The light from the high window and the indirect lighting make the room comfortable, and everyday items such as TV, clock, etc. are purposely eliminated. If you stay in the room as it is, you can enjoy the space elegantly while digitally detoxifying.

In addition, “Vacation House Blue, Blue, White, and Okinawa” provide free mineral water, Sanpin-cha (green tea), and Okinawan brown sugar as amenities. The brown sugar is a welcome relief from the fatigue of traveling!

Point 2: What are the meals at “Vacation House Blue, Blue, White and Okinawa”?

Vacation House Blue, Blue, White, and Okinawa” has barbecue facilities, so if you make a reservation under the “Barbecue Equipment Rental Plan” (via Rakuten or on the website) and procure ingredients, you can barbecue in the large garden where you can feel the natural beauty of Okinawa.

The barbecue using only the finest island ingredients, served in a space with a pleasant sea breeze, is a special treat!

Breakfast, which is included in all accommodation plans, is also a special dish using freshly harvested island vegetables from nearby farms. Please try our “Maasan (delicious) breakfast,” which is not only delicious but also colorful.

Point 3: What is the herbal steam of “Vacation House Blue, Blue, White and Okinawa”?

At “Vacation House Blue, Blue, White, and Okinawa,” we offer a treatment called “Ryukyu Herb Steaming. (Separate fee, reservation required).

In this treatment, guests sit on a seat made of Ryukyu red clay and are steamed with hot water containing shell Gingko nuts, Ryukyu mugwort, moringa, and other herbs from below.

After sitting still for 40 minutes, you will feel your body warming up. Then, your body will mysteriously relax.

There is a similar “mugwort steam” treatment in Korea, but it seems that Okinawa has absorbed more Asian culture than mainland Japan, as it traded with Asian countries even during Japan’s isolation.

Forty minutes without thinking about anything seems like a very precious time.

Also, there are no baths in the rooms here, but “private baths” that must be reserved by the hour. After relaxing in the Ryukyu herbal steam, I would like to deepen my relaxation even more in the private bath, Gekko no Yu!
