This beach is located on the Pacific Ocean side of Miyagi Island in Uruma City, about a two-hour drive from Naha Airport. Although connected by a bridge, it is a remote island, so the water is very clear. It is a secluded beach where you can enjoy everything from marine activities to BBQ!
Point 1: What is the location of “Tonnaha Beach”?
Tonnaha Beach” is a beach that is well known by those in the know, and many people wonder where it is. Many people may wonder where it is located.
The beach is located on the Pacific Ocean side of central Okinawa Island, northwest of Miyagi Island, which is connected to Uruma City by a bridge.
Since it is a remote island, the cleanness and transparency of the water is on par with that of other islands! There are also many underwater creatures, so please snorkel and experience the fantastic world.
Even if you go to Okinawa, only the most maniacal people go to Miyagi Island. Even if you take the expressway to access the island, it takes about two hours to get to Cape Hendo, the northernmost point of Okinawa.
Point 2: What activities are available at “Tonnaha Beach”?
So what activities are available at “Tonnaha Beach”?
Tonnaha Beach offers a full range of activities from swimming, snorkeling, banana boating, wakeboarding, cookie, and even jet ski rentals.
The rentals are as extensive as those at major beaches, including snorkel sets (2,000 yen), jets (30,000 yen for 2 hours, 60,000 yen for 1 day), parasols, float mats, life jackets, summer beds, and float rings (all for 500 yen).
The entrance fee is also only 500 yen, so the beach is moderately crowded.
Furthermore, barbeques are available for 2,300 yen per person, and for 5,000 yen you can rent all the equipment you need.
Of course, there are changing rooms, toilets, and showers.
Point 3: What about the after-beach at “Tonnaha Beach”?

Because “Tonnaha Beach” is located on a remote island, there are not many places of interest or restaurants unless you go to Uruma City or Okinawa City on the main island side, or to Kitanakagusuku Village further south.
Speaking of sightseeing in the area, there are Minami Gusuku and Sinugudo ruins. Just before crossing the bridge, on the peninsula leading to the main island, are the ruins of Katsuren Castle.
There is no convenience store on Miyagi Island, where Tonnaha Beach is located, but on the neighboring Ike Island, there is a unique Okinawan store called “Kyodo kiosk” that you may want to visit.
For gourmet food, there is also a vegetarian restaurant on the neighboring island of Ike Island called “Ano-do of Old House Cafe Life Medicine,” as well as the reasonably priced “Old House Restaurant Agoriba Shokudo” on Miyagi Island.
