Taketomi Island, a 10-minute boat ride from Ishigaki Island and designated as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, is home to good old-fashioned Okinawan scenery. With houses made of Okinawan red tiles and the sound of sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument) coming out of nowhere, time seems to have stopped on this island. Kondoi Beach is located on the west side of Taketomi Island. The beach is shallow and the waves are calm, and the crystal clear sea is very beautiful and crowded with many people during the bathing season.
Point 1: Excellent access from central Taketomi Island!
On the north side of Taketomi Island, there is an area where stores, buffalo cart experiences, restaurants, and inns are concentrated, and most day-trip tourists from Ishigaki Island and other islands head for this northern area first after getting off the boat. There are several bicycle rental stores for getting around the island, and it is convenient to go to Kondoi Beach by bicycle. Passing through the center, go straight down Kondoimichi and you will arrive at Kondoi Beach. It takes about 10 minutes to get there by bicycle from the center, so it can be visited even by those who plan to stay only a short day trip. There is a large bicycle parking lot at the entrance of Kondoi Beach.
