About an hour drive from Naha Airport. This beach is located in Yomitan Village in the central part of Okinawa’s main island. The beach is extremely clear and has a moderately private feel. It is very popular among locals, and some people even camp there solo. The location is difficult to find, but it is a beach you should definitely try.

Point 1: What is the location of “Namihira Beach”?

Namihira Beach is located in Yomitan Village in the central part of the main island of Okinawa.

From Naha Airport, take Route 58 north to the end of Kadena Town, and turn onto Prefectural Route 6 on the way.

In the Hahira area of Yomitan Village, fields continue all the way to the beach, but there is a simple sign in a windbreak-like forest that serves as a path for visitors to step onto. This is the entrance to a traditional Okinawan beach, not just “Habira Beach. Cars can park on the road!

The path is narrow enough for a beast to pass through, and you will pass through a path overgrown with tropical plants all the way to the beach.

Suddenly the view opens up and there it is, the Okinawan sea as I had expected.

It is not too wide, not too narrow, and just the right size with plenty of privacy. The wildness of nature, which is not too much, is also nice!

Point 2: What kind of beach is “Namihira Beach”?

Namihira Beach” is surrounded by rocks, so beyond the rocks is another beach with a different name.

The nice thing about this beach is that it is a large rock, so it provides moderate shade and hardly requires a parasol.

No wonder this is so popular with solo campers.

When I went there on this day, there were only parents and children who seemed to be locals and an old man who was harvesting Ursa.

It seems that the seaweed is harvested well before summer, and by summer, the seaweed disappears and the beach becomes clean and clear for swimming.

However, this beach is not an official beach, and there are no guards or jellyfish nets.

The shallow water is not deep enough for adults at low tide, but it is a good beach for children to play.

Swimming is at your own risk, so be careful of the currents and harmful creatures.

It was nice to meet a couple of adults taking wedding photos on their way back to the beach!

It has more atmosphere than a large, well-maintained beach.

Point 3: What are the sights and food around “Namihira Beach”?

Namihira Beach” is located in Yomitan Village, which is home to many first-class hotels and tasteful vacation rentals, as well as long-established and unique stores.

Zakimi Castle Ruins” (9 minutes by car) and “Yachimun-no-sato” (14 minutes by car) are recommended attractions.

Zakimi Castle Ruins, which preserves the masonry techniques of the Ryukyu Dynasty, is smaller than the other castle ruins, but it is worth seeing, and it is the only one of the five gusuku that is free to enter.

Yachimun-no-sato” is also a little inland, but it has more varieties than Naha’s Yachimun Street, and it is recommended because you can buy them at wholesale prices and visit workshops.
