About an hour drive from Naha Airport. This shaved ice shop is located in the northern part of Chatan Town in the central part of Okinawa’s main island. The owner trained at a famous shaved ice store in Tokyo, and serves shaved ice that is more peculiar than at that store. The shaved ice is more peculiar than that of a famous shaved ice shop in Tokyo, and Jojo fans can also enjoy it, as there are pictures of Jojo in the store.
Point 1: The American exterior of “Hi-wo Chokume” and the art-filled interior of the restaurant are also wonderful!
Hyo Wo Kikume” is a store in a renovated foreigner’s house in the northern part of Chatan Town.
The exterior is a one-story, all-white building with the unique “Hi-owokkome” logo on the wall!
I have an image of a shaved ice shop with a Japanese style storefront, and you have to walk through a brick wall to get inside, but is it just me or does it have the feel of an up-and-coming ramen shop?
Once inside, you will find many art frames of “JoJo’s Mysterious Adventure” and a lot of cute animals and other cute type objects!
The lack of unity is another fresh surprise.
The owner, a stout man who makes the fluffy shaved ice, is an active martial artist. He used to do martial arts while working as an office worker, but he decided to quit his job and open his own restaurant to get more involved in martial arts.
That’s why his official Instagram was filled with pictures of martial artists.
It is amazing that he is a martial artist and a shaved ice store owner!
Point 2: Shaved ice in “Hyo wo-choku-me”. Which are the best sellers?
Recently, unique shaved ice shops have been increasing in Okinawa, but what kind of shaved ice is the shaved ice at “Hyo wokkoku me”?
First of all, the ice is like a sweet, “like a cake” and “you don’t feel like you are eating shaved ice.
The menu includes standard items such as “traditional strawberry milk DX” and “standard kinako cream” (both 900 yen), as well as the most popular “homemade burnt caramel” and “strawberry fromage” (both 1,000 yen).
For those who can’t decide on just one, there are also unique menu items such as “2 kinds of indecision” (starting at 1,200 yen) and “3 kinds of desire” (1,500 yen)!
When you can’t decide on just one dish because they all look so delicious, this kind of menu makes you happy!
The “Kabocha Caramel,” “Strawberry Daifuku,” and “Koshian & Kinako Cream” are all quite unique.
Point 3: The bowls for “hyo wo-choku me” are wonderful!
At “Hyojo-wokkoku-me,” shaved ice is served on a yachimun (Okinawan traditional Japanese pottery) plate.
Some of the shaved ice comes on a bear-patterned plate from the popular yachimun store “Yatchi and Moon” in Naha Tsuboya, which is unintentionally exciting.
This plate was used in the popular TV drama “Runaway Shame” and became very popular and was constantly out of stock.
It is also difficult to coordinate the bear’s plate with colorful and POP items such as the burnt caramel and strawberry fromage as shown in the photo, or the austere colored polka dot plate for Japanese-style shaved ice with red bean paste or soybean paste on it.
