It is a 5-minute drive from Shimojijima Airport, a neighbor of Miyakojima. This beach is located in the southern part of Irabu Island. It is a well-equipped beach with various rental items such as kayaks, snorkeling, and surfing. If you want to enjoy marine activities, go here!
Point 1: What is the location of “Toguchi no Hama” (Irabu Island)?
Toguchi no Hama” is a beautiful beach in the southern part of Irabu Island, Miyako Island’s neighbor, that is half as clear as it is beautiful.
Since an airport opened in Shimoji Island, next to Irabu Island, in 2019, access to Irabu Island, which is connected by a bridge, has improved, and the southern part of Shimoji Island, where “Toguchi no Hama” is located, can be reached in about 5 minutes by car.
The long sandy beach is spread out in an ideal arc shape, giving it a terrific sense of openness.
And, as with other beaches on Irabu Island, large rocks that were washed ashore by an earthquake in the 18th century are scattered throughout the sea, creating a unique landscape.
Point 2: Are there any activities at “Toguchi no Hama” (Irabu Island)?
Toguchi no Hama (beach on Irabu Island) is famous for its water, which is one of the cleanest in Okinawa Prefecture.
On the same Irabu Island, there is also “Toguchi no Hama”, a 4-minute drive from Shimojishima Airport, which offers excellent water clarity, but “Watakuchi no Hama” offers a full range of marine activities and rentals.
The main activities are snorkeling and surfing, and rental services are provided by a company called Ishima Rental Service, which also offers surfboards, kayaks, floats, and floatation rings.
Facilities include changing rooms and showers as well as restrooms, but there is a 100 yen fee, so be sure to have some change ready!
Because of the activities and rentals, this beach is more crowded and popular than “Sawada no Hama” beach.
Point 3: What do you recommend for the after-beach at “Toguchi no Hama” (Irabu Island)?
Toguchi no Hama” is located in the southern part of Irabu Island.
A recommended after-beach restaurant and bar called “Blue Turtle” is located 2 minutes away by car.
They let us use their parking lot, showers, and restrooms, and even let us drink island vegetable detox water for free! We appreciate it.
Of course, the Miyako beef hamburgers and smoothies served on the semi-open-air terrace are also excellent. Since it has a strong presence along the street, it is very popular, so we recommend that you go there right after it opens at 11:00 am or so.
