About 44 minutes by car from Naha Airport. The beach is located behind a mall in Nakagusuku Village, central Okinawa Island. The moderately curved, super-long beach is equipped with a roof and facilities for BBQ! Because of the wind, motor paragliding is also possible, so there are many ways to enjoy the beach, even if you are not a swimmer.
Point 1: What is the location of “Nakagusuku Mall Beach”?
Nakagusuku Mall Beach” is located behind a mall in Nakagusuku Village, central Okinawa Island.
It is also unique in that the statue of the Little Mermaid is in the sea!
Although it is located in the central part of Okinawa’s main island, it only takes about 44 minutes to get there if you take Route 331 northward.
Nakagusuku Village is famous for tourist attractions such as “Nakagusuku Castle Ruins” and “Nakamura Family Residence” on the Pacific coast, but tourists usually go to tourist attractions on the East China Sea side such as Chatan Town and Onna Village, so they may not bother to go all the way to Nakagusuku Village.
In addition, there are probably even fewer people who come to the Pacific Ocean side when it comes to sea bathing.
Therefore, it may be said to be a good spot for swimming without being overcrowded.
Point 2: What are the activities at “Nakagusuku Mall Beach”?
Since “Nakagusuku Mall Beach” is not an official beach, there are no rental items or activities that can be found at major beaches.
However, this beach is famous for motor paragliding because of the wind.
This involves flying with a pilot 200 meters above the ground and looking down at the blue coral reef ocean. Even if you are not good at heights, you will not have to worry because you are with the pilot!
And you get a bonus DVD with a photo of the view from the sky.
This is not an activity that can be done anywhere, so we hope you will experience it for yourself.
In addition, BBQ food is inexpensive, with courses A through C (1,000 yen to 2,000 yen), and one room with a covered space and a teppan grill table can be rented for 7,500 yen, so you can come empty-handed!
The BBQ space is a pavilion with a roof to protect against sudden rain, so it is convenient for avoiding direct sunlight.
Rarely do beach BBQs have a roof, so you will want to check this out as well!
Point 3: What about food around “Nakagusuku Mall Coast”?
Although there is a large commercial facility called “Nakagusuku Mall” in the vicinity of “Nakagusuku Mall Coast,” there are not many independent stores.
One such store that you should try is “EM Ice Cream,” which is made from the milk of cows that have been fed food containing useful microorganisms.
EM” is a word that you may often see in supermarkets in Okinawa, so to speak.
The ice cream lineup includes standard items such as milk, strawberry, cocoa, coffee, and green tea, as well as Okinawan-style items such as Seekwasa, red sweet potato, mango, and passion fruit.
Prices are also reasonable, at 300 yen for a single and 500 yen for a double.
Blue Seal Ice Cream” is well-known in Okinawa, but be sure to check out EM Ice Cream, which is also well-known by those in the know!
