About 11 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is a hideaway Japanese restaurant located in Kumoji, Naha City. Neo Japanese cuisine served at the counter with indirect lighting is stylish and the selection of ingredients is fun! You will discover a new way of cooking.

Point 1: Is it necessary to make a reservation for “Hideout Japanese Cuisine Tsumugi”? What is the menu like?

The newest restaurant, “Hideaway Japanese Cuisine Tsumugi,” opened in August 2023, is located in the Kumoji area, which is famous for its many unique restaurants, even within Naha.

In addition to the most popular “omakase course” (5,500 yen), which includes three appetizers, steamed, fried, grilled, and rice in an earthenware pot, there are many a la carte dishes. All of them are made with the finest ingredients and cooking methods, and are artistically arranged.

Here at Tsumugi, there are 15 seats at the counter and one table for four, but it is best to make a reservation.

There is no parking available, so you will have to park at a nearby coin-operated parking lot.

Also, please note that you may be refused entry if you are wearing strong-smelling perfume.

Point 2: What kind of Japanese food is served at “Hideout Japanese Cuisine Tsumugi”?

The most popular “omakase course” is available at “Kakureka Wagashoku Tsumugi”.

This course consists of 10 dishes, including 3 appetizers, steamed, fried, grilled, and rice in an earthenware pot. This course is a good way to get to know what “Tsumugi” is all about.

The omakase course menu changes depending on the season and availability.

For example, the menu includes: soaked fruit tomatoes with sansho oil as an appetizer, grilled fresh fish with onion and soy sauce, steamed crab and salmon roe with yuzu bean paste, buttered potatoes aged for 730 days in a snowy storehouse, baked Agu pork and lotus root with homemade XO sauce, cream croquette with scallion and autumn vegetables, and grilled Tanba Black Chicken wings.

This is an elegant and casual Japanese course that makes casual use of Okinawan brand pork, such as Agu pork.

A la carte items include seasonal spring rolls with oysters and sansho (Japanese pepper), fried tofu and burdock root. The a la carte menu includes a seasonal spring roll with oysters and sansho (Japanese pepper), fried tofu and burdock root, shrimp and corn cream croquettes with Hatcho miso and Parmesan cheese, grilled tsukune (skewered pork knuckle) with egg yolk soy sauce, and a visually interesting potato salad and ham with a smoked half-boiled egg on top.

The menu also features a variety of unique dishes using unexpected ingredients, such as rice cooked in an earthenware pot with the irresistible sweetness of scallops and corn!

The course menu is especially exciting, as you wonder, “What will be served next? and “What will be the next dish?

Point 3: “Hideaway Japanese Cuisine Tsumugi” also has unique desserts!

Desserts are also a must at “Kakureka Tsumugi”.

For example, the Daifuku with mandarin oranges in the photo! The visual impact of the half-sliced piece is amazing.

There is also “monaka ice cream” with a moderate sakekasu flavor.

The “Burnt Caramel Chiffon Cake” (size 5, 3,300 yen), a white cube covered with caramel sauce, is also visually stunning!

All of them have a great sense of taste in their choice of ingredients! I would love to try their desserts as well.
