Nami no Ue Beach is a populated beach located in Naha City, and is the only beach in Naha City where swimming is allowed. It is a 10-minute drive from Naha Airport via the Umizura Tunnel, and a 15-minute walk from either the Asahibashi Monorail Station or Kencho-mae Station. The beach is within walking distance from the center of Naha City, making it an easy beach to visit while sightseeing in Naha, and is open for swimming from April to October, with facilities including restrooms, showers, and coin lockers. There is a MaxValue store about a 2-minute walk from the beach, so it is convenient for buying drinks and other necessities.

Nami no Uemisora Beach is located in the Naha Beach Resort area, which includes Nami no Uemisora Park, Nami no Uemisora Beach, Wakasa Seaside Park, and Miejo Kofunatame. The beach is not only for swimming, but also for snorkeling, diving, and other marine leisure activities. SUP is especially recommended, as it is a great way to spend a relaxing time riding the waves while enjoying the view of Namijomiya. There is also an area for barbecues, so you can enjoy a beach party in addition to swimming!

Highlights of Uwakami Beach

Hagamigu Shrine
On the sandy beach of Namikami Beach, Namikami Shrine sits on a cliff made of Ryukyu limestone.
Hagamigu Shrine has long been cherished as one of the sacred places to offer prayers. For this reason, Namiage Beach is called Kaiyun Beach.
The contrast between the blue ocean of Okinawa, the blue sky, and the vermilion Hagamigu Shrine is very beautiful and divine.

Sunset seen from the bridge
Two large roads cross in front of Namiue Beach. At sunset time, walking along the “Namigami Bridge” on the beach, you can see the setting sun and Namigamigu Shrine, which makes you feel sacred.

Recommended food around Uwakami Beach

Here are two recommended gourmet restaurants near Namiue Beach.
The first is Unarizaki, famous for its red potato Sata Andagi. The red potato Sataa Andagi with a crispy outside is the only signature product. It is very popular and often sold out, so be sure to buy it early!
The second is Kameshima Pan Wakasa. The locals also love Kameshima bread. If you go for a morning stroll on Namiue Beach, we recommend that you buy bread at Kameshima Bakery and enjoy it in the morning beach air!
