It is a well-maintained man-made beach located in a sports park in Nakijin Village in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island, about an hour and a half drive from Naha Airport. It is a semi-circular beach with beautiful white sand, and since it is located within the park, there is a parking lot, restrooms, and showers for your convenience. The beach can be used all year round, but please note that it is locked and cannot be used after business hours.
Point 1: What is the location where the “Villagers’ Beach” is located?
Muratami no Hama” is located in a sports park in Nakijin Village in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
It takes about one and a half hours from Naha Airport. If you take the expressway, you can get there without getting lost.
If you take the “Yanbaru Express Bus,” it is relatively easy to get to the park, which is a 7-minute walk from the old “Daiichi Watakijin” bus stop.
The sports park is “Nakijin Village Sports Park,” a fairly large site with a playing field, gymnasium, campground, etc. The beach has a seawall and a sandy beach.
There is a free parking lot where about 10 cars can be parked, and there are also proper toilets and showers for your convenience.
Point 2: What kind of beach is “Villagers’ Beach”?
Village People’s Beach” is a well-maintained and very beautiful beach located in Nakijin Athletic Park.
The beach has a seawall and is shaped like an arc, which is surprising because it is a natural beach and not man-made.
On a clear day, it has a bright blue sky and emerald green water. The water is quite clean and shallow, and when the tide is low, you can walk far out into the water.
Snorkeling and other activities are allowed, but only at your own risk.
Also, although it is a beautiful beach, there are no jellyfish nets, so be especially careful with children, especially from May to October, as there may be habu jellyfish and sea snakes.
This is a secluded beach without many tourists or locals all year round, but please note that you are responsible for your own safety in emergency situations.
Point 3: What are the recommended spots around “Villagers’ Beach”?

The area around “Villagers’ Beach” is Nakijin Village, a fashionable place where vacation rentals and petit hotels line the streets.
It is, so to speak, the area of choice for those who are used to resorts, and the surrounding area is also lined with unique stores.
However, unlike urban resorts, each house is far away from the other, and the area is full of nature and laid-back, so it may be inconvenient without a car.
Recommended spots include the ruins of Nakijin Castle (13 minutes by car), which are reminiscent of the Ryukyu Dynasty, and Churaumi Aquarium (25 minutes by car), a staple of Okinawan sightseeing.
As for gourmet food, we recommend “Nakijin Soba”, which has the appearance of an old private house. The stand-alone soba is good, but there is also a “soba set” that includes jusshi and dessert.
It is also reasonably priced for a famous restaurant. The original fresh shichimi (seven spices) is also a must.
