Okinawa Tonkatsu Shokudo Shimabutuya, a restaurant specializing in tonkatsu and shabu-shabu
Okinawa Tonkatsu Shokudo Shimabutuya is a restaurant that serves tonkatsu and shabu-shabu made with Okinawan Agu pork at two locations in Okinawa Prefecture.
The restaurant is located in Onna Village, where resort hotels line the streets, and in Naha City, near Naha Airport and Okinawa Prefecture’s largest tourist spot, Makishi Public Market.
The restaurant is equipped with a variety of seating options, including table seating, counter seating, sunken kotatsu seating, and terrace seating. The restaurant’s high ceilings and well-designed lighting create a somewhat liberating atmosphere.
Point 1: Excellent pork cutlets with specialties
The photo shows the restaurant’s signature dish and the town’s most popular menu item, “Tonkatsu made with Okinawan agu pork.
The bread crumbs used for the pork cutlet are a little white in color. The bread crumbs are homemade with natural yeast and deep-fried with Agu lard, which is the restaurant’s speciality.
We recommend eating it with Japanese mustard and salt, but there is also sauce and sesame placed on the seats, so you can grind your own sesame and dip it in the sauce.
Point 2: Shabu-shabu and katsu are also available.
If you visit the restaurant during dinner time, we recommend the “Shabu-Shabu and Kabu-Shabu Course,” in which you can enjoy both pork cutlet and shabu-shabu.
This course includes Yushi Tofu and Japanese pickles bar, two appetizers that change daily, a rare part of the day (either Miyabuta or Yanbaru Island Pork Agu), Yanbaru Island Pork Agu Shabushabu, seasonal vegetables, Yanbaru Island Pork Agu Tsumire, three types of Yanbaru Island Pork Agu pork cutlets, one dish of white rice, Zosui or Okinawa soba, and a dessert. The set includes one dish of white rice, rice porridge, or Okinawa soba noodles, and dessert!
It is very luxurious to be able to enjoy both the signature tonkatsu and shabu-shabu.
Point 3: A wide variety of one-dish dishes
In addition to its signature menu of tonkatsu and shabu-shabu, the restaurant offers a wide selection of Okinawan dishes. There are many Okinawan dishes such as goya Chanpuru (bitter melon stir-fry), somen Chanpuru (somen noodles stir-fry), and raft, which is a staple of Okinawan cuisine!
Awamori, highballs, beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages are also available, so you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine while having a drink.
Of course, there are also many soft drinks on the menu.
