About 47 minutes by car from Naha Airport. This café is located in Kitanakagusuku Village in the central part of Okinawa’s main island. The menu has a wide repertoire and is popular, especially among locals, as a cafe where you can eat anything from Okinawan soba noodles to gazpacho, steamed buns, curry, and apricot bean curd!
Point 1: It is not the appearance of an Okinawan noodle shop! What kind of restaurant is “Cyrano”?
Cyrano is a café in Kitanakagusuku Village in the central Okinawa main island.
Even though it is a café, it offers not only the usual café menu, but also a wide variety of dishes such as Okinawan soba noodles, steamed buns, gazpacho, curry, and so on, not to mention coffee.
In addition, they sell quite a variety of breads, so much so that it is hard to tell what their main business is!
The clientele is almost exclusively local and you can tell that it is supported by the locals.
From Naha Airport, it takes about 47 minutes by car via Okinawa Expressway.
By bus, take the No. 190 Ryukyu Bus to Higa Nishihara, then walk 8 minutes from there to Tokushukai Hospital (across the street from AEON LaiKamu), take the community bus “Gusu Megurin West Route” and get off at Shimabukuro Elementary School, then walk 17 minutes to the restaurant.
It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there because it is located near Awase in Okinawa City, the most difficult place to reach by bus.
The yellow brick exterior looks like a medieval building in Europe.
It looks as if you have wandered into the world of Hansel and Gretel. What kind of menu do they have?
Point 2: A wide variety of dishes! Introducing the dining menu at “Cyrano”!
The main menu item at Shirano’s is Okinawa soba.
The menu’s mainstay is a variety of sets, such as the “Cartilage Soki Soba Set & Pudding.”
The set comes with a bread filled with a hearty filling like a meat bun and a homemade creamy, thick pudding, making it quite a bargain! It is well-received as the perfect dessert after a meal of salty Okinawan soba noodles.
The Okinawa soba noodles are chewy and the broth is “the best! The base is made from bonito, and there is no soup stock. The base is a light flavor with a hint of bonito, so even those who do not like the strong flavor of Okinawan soba can enjoy it without any difficulty.
In the summer, the restaurant offers seasonal dishes such as “Glee Curry Soba” and “Spicy Curry Soba,” which I would like to try as well.
The “Gazpacho Soba” menu, which transcends the boundaries of Western and Japanese cuisine, is another example of the restaurant’s spirit of challenge!
The prices are not too expensive, so you can eat with peace of mind.
Point 3: Is it a cafe? Is it a bakery? Introduction to the types of bread at Cyrano!!
At “Cyrano,” quite a few breads are sold.
The variety is so great that it is hard to tell whether the main business is a cafe or a bakery!
The main types are Japanese style, such as “garlic French bread” which goes well with Okinawan soba noodles, soybean flour bread, black sesame bread, peanut bread, and black sesame raisin bread. Prices range from 300 to 350 yen per piece, which may be a bit expensive for bread.
The bread is made with wholesome ingredients and does not rely on additives, making it well worth the price.
Cyrano, located in Kitanakagusuku Village in the central part of Okinawa’s main island, is a café that serves Okinawan soba despite its Western-style appearance that looks like something out of Hansel and Gretel. The Okinawa soba set comes with bread and pudding, which is a great value!
The taste is very delicious and you can tell that it is carefully made, so please come and try it.
