About a minute’s drive from Naha Airport. It is a local family restaurant located in Nambaebaru-cho, in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island. The menu is full of Okinawan-style dishes! This family restaurant has an at-home atmosphere that you won’t find at the big ones, and you can see that it is supported by the locals.

Point 1: The closed drive-in staff opened this restaurant! What is the location of “Sakas Restaurant”?

Sakas Restaurant is a family-style restaurant located in the town of Nambaebaru in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island.

The restaurant was opened by volunteers who worked at the “Nanpuhara Drive-in,” which regrettably closed in 2016, and continues to be loved by local residents.

When you call it a family restaurant, you imagine the same menu no matter where you go, but it is closer to a beloved Western-style restaurant in town, serving very attentive and delicious food.

It is about a 24-minute drive from Naha Airport. It is located along the main road called Naha Itoman Road. The restaurant has a large parking lot, so parking is not a concern.

By bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 120 or 26 to “Naha Bus Terminal” first, then transfer to Okinawa Bus No. 40 and get off at “Teruya”, and you will reach the restaurant in 7 minutes on foot.

It is unusual to write “Saki” and have it read “Sakasu,” but to our surprise, it is the first letter of the daughter’s name! It feels homey, doesn’t it?

Point 2: Not only Western food but also Japanese and Okinawan food! What is the recommended menu of “Sakas Restaurant”?

Sakas Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, from Western to Japanese to Okinawan cuisine such as Tebichi nimono, but the most popular dish is the “Tomato Chicken Cutlet (2-tiered chicken cutlet)” shown in the photo.

The most popular dish is the “Tomato Chicken Cutlet (2-tier chicken cutlet)” shown in the photo. It is topped with cheese and tomato sauce, making it a two-tier dish.

There is also the luxurious “A Lunch,” which includes pork cutlet, fried chicken, hamburger steak, fried shrimp, sausage on the bone, rice, soup, and salad for over 1,500 yen.

The slightly smaller B Lunch is 1,210 yen, and the C Lunch is 880 yen.

The restaurant also offers a “daily set meal” for lunch for 770 yen, which includes white fish Meuniere, cream croquette, and other dishes similar to those found in Western-style restaurants with good reputations in town.

In addition to Western-style food, the restaurant also serves Japanese-style food such as katsudon (pork cutlet bowl), Oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl), and unadon (eel bowl), making it a restaurant that can be enjoyed by parents and children of all three generations!

The food is so carefully prepared that it would be a misnomer to call it a “family restaurant. That’s probably why people in the area love it so much.

Point 3: “Sakas Restaurant” A family restaurant that also has a senbero!

The “Sakas Restaurant” also has a “Senbero” (a Japanese bar).

The menu includes three drinks and one omakase snack.

Drinks include Kinmugi, Umeshu (plum wine on the rocks and soda), Sour (lemon and grapefruit), wine (red and white), Kachiwari wine, and Awamori, and the price is just 1000 yen!

The price is just 1,000 yen! The staff members wanted to drink so much that they created the menu!

This is also a nice touch of generosity that is not found at the big companies.

There is also a wide variety of bento boxes available for 400 or 500 yen, and sweets and cakes are also sold, making take-out a pleasure.

Saki Restaurant, located in the town of Nanpuhara in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island, is a community-based at-home restaurant opened by volunteers from the former Nanpuhara Drive-In staff, which has since closed.

The restaurant is almost exclusively frequented by locals and is especially recommended for those who prefer to travel as if they were living in the area. Please come and try it for yourself.
