About 19 minutes by car from Naha Airport. It is a diner located in Onaga, Tomigusuku City in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island, and is as close to a parlor as possible. The restaurant is especially known for its delicious Okinawa soba (buckwheat noodles) with thick, sticky noodles and many other ingredients, and many people come all the way to eat it. The austere appearance of the restaurant may surprise you, but the taste is authentic.

Point 1: Where is Ocho? What is the location of Tomochan Shokudo?

Tomo-chan Shokudo” is a diner that is as close as possible to a parlor, located in Onaga, Tomigusuku City, in the southern part of Okinawa’s main island.

It seems to have been in business for almost 40 years, and a blue-sheet roof has been set up next to a hut with an austere appearance that has probably not changed since its establishment, with luxurious tables and chairs lined up for a parlor.

Perhaps it was a disposable restaurant from some other company? It is not simple, but a well-constructed “reception set.

Almost 100% of the customers are locals, and they seem to order and pick up their food at this “hut.

It is rather close to Naha Airport, about 19 minutes by car.

It is located in a residential area a little off the main road Route 256, but it should not be too difficult to find the place.

By bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 120, 26, 99, 113, etc., and get off at the second stop from the airport, “Gun Pier Mae,” then take the same Ryukyu Bus bound for Naha Airport and Takara, which is a 5-minute walk from the bus stop, and get off at the “Onaga Iriguchi” stop.

Even though it is titled “Shokudo” (restaurant), it is a parlor, and its austere appearance is impressive at first! The restaurant always seems to be crowded with locals, so expectations are high as to what kind of food they serve.

Point 2: Introduction of “Tomo-chan Shokudo’s” thick, chewy Okinawa soba noodles with a variety of ingredients!

Tomochan Shokudo’s Okinawan soba noodles are thick and frizzy, with a broth that is easy on the palate. The large-cut ingredients, such as tripe, egg omelet, fish cake, and pork, are all on top of the noodles.

The Okinawa soba noodles are thick and frizzy, and the broth is delicious. The noodles have a firm texture. The size and quantity of the ingredients are unparalleled!

The price is 500 yen! The price is an unbelievably low 500 yen!

The Okinawa soba comes with kohlra goose and shichimi (seven spices) to change the taste. The mug is decorated with the “Inspector Zenigata” from Lupin III, which is also amusing! This kind of “looseness” is the charm that you cannot resist.

Point 3: Introduction of other menu items at Tomochan Shokudo!

Tomo-chan Shokudo” offers rice balls, sandwiches, fried rice, ramen, dumplings, shaved ice, and Zenzai.

Prices range from 50 yen to 250 yen! The Okinawa soba is priced at 500 yen, but it is the most expensive item on the menu, and the rest are much cheaper.

Aside from Okinawa soba, mochi dumplings and onigiri (rice balls) slightly larger than a fistful are also popular.

The homemade dumplings are priced at 50 yen! The rice balls are 150 yen and come in four varieties: Shake Mayo, Shake, Miso, and Umame. Both have a nostalgic Showa-era taste that only handmade rice balls can provide.

The “Shakemayo” onigiri seems to be especially popular.
