About a minute’s drive from Naha Airport. The restaurant in the HIYORI Ocean Resort Okinawa Hotel in Onna Village, central Okinawa’s main island, has finally started offering a lunch buffet in its fourth year of operation! The quality of the lunch buffet, which includes Okinawan cuisine, seafood, and desserts, is so high that it is surprising! The price of less than 4,000 yen is also surprising in spite of the rich content!
Point 1: Hillside Grill Restaurant
Hillside Grill Restaurant” is located in a hotel called ‘HIYORI Ocean Resort’ in Onna Village, central Okinawa Island.
Until then, the restaurant served lunch with a choice of main dish, but four years after its opening, it finally started serving an all-buffet lunch menu on June 17, 2024.
The restaurant offers a good balance of seafood, Okinawan cuisine, and desserts, and the quality of the food is high and the cost is good, so locals are likely to go there to eat.
The price is 3,980 yen (including tax), less than 4,000 yen, and the price for children is 1980 yen. It is impossible to find a restaurant in Naha that charges less than 4,000 yen for this kind of content, isn’t it?
It takes about 51 minutes from Naha Airport via the Okinawa Expressway.
By bus, take Ryukyu Bus No. 120, get off at “Nakadomari” and walk 12 minutes. Please note that since it is located on high ground, you will have to climb a very steep hill.
Point 2: “Hillside Grill Restaurant” seafood and Okinawan cuisine menu!
The lunch buffet at Hillside Grill Restaurant offers not only plentiful seafood but also fluffy pancakes combined with meringue, as shown in the photo.
You can also customize the pancakes to your liking by choosing your favorite ingredients, like seafood rice bowls, and toppings such as fruits and syrups, which makes it even more satisfying.
You can also enjoy all-you-can-eat Okinawan dishes such as umi buto, jimmie tofu, and Okinawan soba!
Especially, you can eat as much as you like of umi budou (sea grapes), which are expensive if you eat them separately.
The Okinawa soba is very tasty with bonito broth! The taste is in the class of famous restaurants in Okinawa. I never thought I would be able to enjoy such delicious Okinawan soba at a hotel.
As for seafood, the “all-you-can-eat salmon roe” is very attractive.
It is surprising that such high-quality salmon roe is available here in Okinawa and not in Hokkaido. In the seafood section, you can also try the “Okinawa Inshore Tuna Bowl Hawaiian Style”. It would be delicious even if served in a normal way, but the stylish Hawaiian style is better!
Another recommended item is the “HIYORI Burger,” which has a reputation for being one of the most delicious burgers in Okinawa, where the level of burgers is very high.
The burger has a punchy 200 gram patty, pickled prefectural cucumbers, tomato jam, and aioli sauce, and has many fans for its rich, consistent taste.
Point 3: Introduction of “Hillside Grill Restaurant” dessert menu
Hillside Grill Restaurant also offers a very authentic dessert buffet for lunch.
The highlight is the fluffy pancakes, which are very popular even at specialty stores around the American Village.
The fluffy pancakes served with meringue are as good as those at specialty restaurants.
The hotel’s signature white pudding with its irresistible savory caramel and rich Basque cheesecake is also well-received.
This hotel is operated by Plan-Do-See, a company in the same family as the Southwest Grand Hotel in Naha.
The “Southwest Grand Hotel” also has a great taste in food, including fluffy pancakes, so I felt it was understandable. Please visit the hotel.
