Approximately 90 minutes from Naha Airport via the Okinawa Expressway. Junglia Okinawa is scheduled to open on July 25, 2025, but there are many issues that make it difficult to visit as easily as other theme parks. These issues are due to traffic conditions and the tropical climate. What is the best way to enjoy Junglia Okinawa to the fullest, even before it opens?
Point 1: Where is Junglia Okinawa located?
Jungle Land Okinawa, a huge theme park, suddenly appears in the mountains of Nakijin Village in northern Okinawa Island. It is located about an hour and a half by car from Naha Airport via the Okinawa Expressway.
If using public transportation, take Ryukyu Bus routes 120 or 117, or the Okinawa Airport Shuttle (OAS/RSL-RP) to “Nago Crossroads” or “Nago City Hall,” then transfer to bus route 66 and get off at “Yukawa.” However, it takes a 42-minute walk from there, so be prepared for a lengthy walk.
But don’t worry. Shuttle buses are scheduled to run from Naha Airport, Kokusai Street, Nago City Center, and the official hotel. The access barrier can be significantly reduced by making good use of the shuttle buses.
However, shuttle bus reservations will begin on July 8. They are generally paid, with a fare of 2,500 yen from Naha Airport, 500 yen from other locations, and free from affiliated parking lots.
Each shuttle bus has a capacity of 50 people, with six trips per day scheduled. I wonder how crowded it will be.
Additionally, many people are expected to use rental cars, but there is only one parking lot within Jungle Land Okinawa, accommodating 1,126 vehicles for 2,000 yen. Reservations are required.
Affiliated paid parking lots (500 yen per day, reservation status unknown):
・Nakijin Village Yuwaku ① 220 spaces
・Nakijin Village Yuwaku ② 80 spaces
・Nago City Goya 250 spaces
Affiliated free parking lots (free, no reservation required)
・Aeon Nago Store Rooftop Parking Lot 350 spaces
・Nakijin Castle Ruins 4th Parking Lot: 150 spaces.
There is only one parking lot within Jungle Land Okinawa, which can accommodate 1,126 vehicles.
It takes approximately 10 minutes by car from Nakijin Village Yuwaku to Jungle Land Okinawa, 15 minutes to Aeon Nago Store, and 18 minutes to Nakijin Castle Ruins. Walking there would take over an hour, which is a bit concerning.
Point 2: Tips for attractions, dining, etc.
Jungleia has about 20 different attractions, and honestly, it’s tough to try them all. The key is to focus on having fun rather than trying to do everything. Don’t be too greedy; decide ahead of time which attractions you want to try.
For example, the popular Dinosaur Safari doesn’t move very fast, so if you line up early in the morning, you might end up wasting time. There is also information that it tends to be less crowded in the afternoon.
An official app is also scheduled for release, which will allow you to check waiting times and obtain tickets via the app. Keep an eye out for future announcements, as the app is likely to be a key tool for navigating the park.
Regarding meals, it is expected to be crowded during lunchtime, so it is recommended to eat immediately after entering the park or aim for a time after 2 PM for a smoother experience.
Souvenir shops tend to get crowded near closing time, so if there is something you want to purchase, it is advisable to buy it early.
Point 3: Tips on clothing, lockers, etc.
Junglia covers an area of 60 hectares, which is equivalent to 13 Tokyo Domes. While there are some mobile attractions within the park, visitors will need to walk quite a bit, so it is important to plan your route to avoid fatigue.
Additionally, the number of lockers is quite limited. With only 18 L-size and 36 M-size lockers, it is insufficient for the expected 10,000 visitors. While there is a luggage storage area, it is likely to be crowded, so it is best to keep your belongings to a minimum.
Clothing choices are also important—casual attire may lead to discomfort. Many of Jungle Land’s attractions are outdoor-based, and some cannot be ridden in skirts or sandals. Additionally, considering Okinawa’s sudden downpours, intense sunlight, and mosquitoes/insects, long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent are essential items.
Umbrellas may not be permitted inside the park, so bringing a raincoat is also recommended. Information on operations during rainy weather is still limited, and attractions may be canceled, so be sure to check the weather forecast in advance.
Jungleia Okinawa offers the chance to fully enjoy Okinawa’s natural surroundings through active play. While preparation may be a bit challenging, the excitement and wonder that await are well worth the effort. With proper planning and gear, you can experience the ultimate adventure!
