The area in the middle of Kokusai-Dori, behind the First Makishi Public Market, is known as “Yachimun (pottery) Street. Shinanpu Marukatsu is a small store where you can find your favorite Yachimun. Just a short walk from Kokusai-Dori, you can find your favorite Yachimun at a reasonable price.

Point 1: The attractive yachimun of “Manamikaze Marukatsu” is nailed to the wall!

If you go down a little alley from the middle of Kokusai-dori Avenue in Naha, you will find the First Makishi Public Market and many stores selling “Yachimun” are located behind the market.

Shinanpu Marukatsu” is one of them.

When you enter the small store, you will see Yachimun in the window and Okinawan glass and fabric products in the back.

The number ofYachimun is overwhelming, but there is a wide range of items, from slightly expensive ones made by famous artists to those priced at only a few hundred yen that are attractive for everyday use.

Some of the Yachimun are bright blue like the blue ocean of Okinawa, and some have unique patterns, which make you feel excited.

Okinawa’s Yachimun is often thought of as expensive, but it is nice to know that some can be purchased casually!

The owner of the store also explains various aspects of the pottery to us, as if to convey his passion for each potter!

Point 2: “Mananpu Marukatsu” also carries Ryukyu glass and fabric products!

If you think that “Shinanpu Marukatsu” is only a store for Yachimun, you are mistaken!

They also have Ryukyu glass, Bingata, and ooze-dyed products.

At the Ryukyu glass corner run by the son next door, the thick, bubbled Ryukyu glasses with such attractive colors make you want to buy them all and take them home!

There are also genuine Bingata, Uji-dyed (sugar cane dyed), and Bashofu products such as curtains, tapestries, stands, bags, and small items such as purses, drawstring bags, and coasters, perfect not only for yourself but also as souvenirs.

There is a similar store on Kokusai-dori, but this store is more conscientious. I wonder if the prices on Kokusai-Dori are tourist prices after all.

Point 3: Coffee is also available at “Manamikaze Marukatsu”!

At “Shinnanpu Marukatsu,” you can also have coffee in the restaurant. At that time, you can choose your cup.

The coffee is accompanied by “Chinsuko,” which makes you realize that you have come to Okinawa.

The time you spend enjoying coffee and Chinsuko while admiring the cup you have chosen will surely be your most memorable Okinawa experience.
