Located about an hour’s drive from Naha Airport, between Cape Zanba and Cape Maeda in Onna Village, this health-conscious cafe offers workshops, rental space, and merchandise sales. Yoguda Beach and other famous beaches in Onna Village are nearby, so it is recommended to stop by on your way home from playing on the beach!
Point 1: What is the location of “Hakumokka”?
Hakumokka is located in a corner of Onna Village, which is lined with beautiful hotels, vacation rentals, and restaurants. Located along Prefectural Route 6, Hakumokka is easy to find even for first-time visitors to Onna Village.
It is on the first floor of a small apartment-like building with no large signage, so it may be a little difficult to find.
As you approach the entrance, you will see a Chinese senior drying on the floor, so you may mistake it for a Chinese restaurant. You might mistake it for a Chinese restaurant. But “Hakumokka” is a café.
But after opening at 3:00 p.m., workshops are held and special goods are sold. In other words, it is a café where travelers and residents can casually drop by!
Point 2: What kind of rice is served at “Hakumokka”?
Hakumokka” is a café with the theme of living in a way that is friendly to people and nature. On the Instagrams of dedicated travelers, it is sometimes introduced as “I found a hole-in-the-wall café that is Asian vegan! This is a café that serves local vegetables and handmade seasonings.
This restaurant is particular about local vegetables and handmade seasonings and is happy to have a “vegan” menu. With the U.S. military nearby, it is no wonder that vegans are in high demand.
Examples of the menu include the Buddha Bowl, a healthy salad made with locally grown vegetables and no meat or fish, enzyme drinks, gluten-free and vegan bean spring rolls, cinnamon flower rolls, kombucha, bean flowers, and vegan Chimaki.
We are happy to see that the menu uses ingredients that are kind to the body!
Point 3: “Hakumokka” also offers fun workshops!
Although “Hakumokka” is open only four days a week, workshops are vigorously held after business hours.
For example, there are workshops on everything from crafts such as mud dyeing and embroidery earring making to IT workshops such as NFT and Web3.
Participants range from young men and women to people in the U.S. military and children! The desire to learn is in full swing, and I like that the hosts are receptive to that!
You would never imagine attending a workshop while traveling, but even if you are a traveler, it is interesting to participate if the time is right.
