It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes by car from Naha Airport. This beach is located northwest of Hamahika Island off the coast of Uruma City. Crossing the underwater road, you will find a spectacular beach with a view unimaginable on the main island. In recent years, this beach has been experiencing a BBQ and camping boom, but there are still few tourists, so you can enjoy the beach in a relaxed atmosphere.

Point 1: 1 hour and 10 minutes from the airport! Convenient access to “Hamahiga Beach

Hama Higa Island is the frontest island of the four islands off the coast of Uruma City.

Hamahika Beach” is a man-made beach located in the northwest of Hamahika Island, with a beautifully maintained seawall and a private sandy beach. It would be no exaggeration to say that it is “like heaven.

When you think of remote islands, you tend to associate them with ferries and think that it takes an incredibly long time to get there. However, Hamaigashima Island is connected to Uruma City by a bridge, and since there is an expressway to reach the bridge, it takes only a little over an hour from Naha Airport, so access to the island is easy for a remote island.

However, it should be noted that it takes about two and a half hours to reach the bridge by bus because of transfers and the limited number of buses.

Point 2: What kind of beach is “Hamahiga Beach”?

This “Hamahiga Beach” also has a sandy beach in a beautiful arc shape and a grove of trees that provide shade behind the beach, making it ideal for barbecues and camping on the beach.

The beach is not very large, so it feels very private.

It is also a rare beach on the East Coast where you can watch the beautiful sunset.

Hamahiga Beach has long been famous among the locals as a beach for camping, but in recent years, perhaps due to the camping boom, groups of people have been bringing their tents and barbecuing and camping, causing problems with garbage and burning charcoal.

Although it is not a formal beach, the shallow waters allow children to play in the water, and some people bring their equipment to enjoy marine sports.

However, please note that there are no lifeguards or jellyfish nets, so you are completely on your own.

Point 3: Where are the recommended spots near “Hamahiga Beach”?

Photo: “Kaho Banta

Hamahika Beach is located on Hamahika Island off the coast of Uruma City.

The best places to see are Silmichu (8 minutes by car) and Kaho Banta (13 minutes by car).

Sirmichu, located 9 minutes by car from Hamaigashima Beach, is famous as the founding god of the Ryukyu Islands, and this place where he is said to have first landed is a power spot. He is worshipped on the island together with the goddess Amamichu, where the legend of Ryukyu’s version of Adam and Eve remains.

Combined with the beauty of the sea, the place has a very solemn atmosphere.

Kafu Banta, also famous as a power spot, is located on Miyagi Island, a neighbor of Hamahika Island, and is a 13-minute drive from Hamahika Island Beach.

The view of Banta (lapping waves) from an elevation of 70 meters is spectacular, and sea turtles come here to lay their eggs. The walking path leading to Kahou Banta is a great place to visit, with three power spots called “Nuchi-Unau” that heal people who are tired of life and need a rest.

The flow of chi here is also good, and the chi accumulated at the three power spots is said to fill the entire area with good energy.

Finally, the spectacular view of “Kabo Banta” will make you feel even more positive.
