It takes about one hour by car from Naha Airport. The beach is located in the middle of the underwater road in Uruma City, central Okinawa Island. I was surprised to find a beach in such a place! It is a beautifully maintained beach. There are no rentals or activities, but you can experience a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view.
Point 1: It is easy if you come through the highway! How to get to “Underwater Road Beach”?
Uminchu Road Beach” is located in the middle of an underwater road that leads to a remote island off the coast of Uruma City in the central part of Okinawa’s main island.
It takes only one hour to reach the beach from Naha Airport via National Route 331 and Prefectural Route 36, making it very accessible.
The name “Uminchu Road” is strange, but it was given to the beach because, in the old days when there were no bridges, people used to cross the sea on foot when the tide was low.
The “Uminchu Road Beach” is located about 8 minutes after you start crossing the road, and there is a large free parking lot and a roadside station (Umi-no-Eki) next to the beach.
The beach is rather spacious, with a concrete seawall and sandy beach. The clarity of the sea is very high, as one would expect from a remote island.
Point 2: What are the activities at “Underwater Road Beach”?
At Uminchu Road Beach, you can experience a wide variety of activities, including the newest one.
You can apply for and complete the procedures at Blue Lagoon Okinawa, which is located in the “Roadside Station Ayahashikan” on the same site as the Uminchu Road Beach, or you can make reservations in advance on the website.
The variety of activities includes flyboarding, wakeboarding, banana boating, jet ski touring, jumbo, energy, etc., which is one or two of the best types of activities on Okinawa beaches.
Not only small group reservations but also group reservations and special packages with unlimited access to a wide variety of activities are available for those who want to enjoy the activities to the fullest!
