One of the largest handmade glass studios in the prefecture, 20 minutes by car from the airport

Ryukyu Glass Village is one of the largest handmade glass studios in Itoman City.

It offers a wide variety of hands-on activities such as glass making and photo frame making.

Located about 30 minutes by car from Naha Airport, it is easily accessible.

In addition to observing glass artisans at work, visitors can take a rainbow shower in the GLASS GARDEN.

You can stop by at the beginning and end of your Okinawa trip.

Why not make your own original Ryukyu glass as a memory of your trip to Okinawa?

Point 1: Extensive experience menu

At Ryukyu Glass Village, visitors can experience glass making, gel glass, photo frames, accessories, Shisa coloring, leather key chain engraving, and more.

In glass making, visitors can experience molding with a craftsman, who blows a mold into the glass and shapes the mouth.

As of June 2022, due to the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus, only the shaping of the mouth can be experienced.

The tour takes about 10 minutes. The fee is 1,870 yen.

*Please check the Ryukyu Glass Mura website as the content of the experience may have changed due to the new type of coronavirus.

Point 2: Observe glass artisans at work.

Visitors can watch glass blowers create Ryukyu glass in front of their eyes in the hot air coming out of the kiln at 1,300 degrees Celsius in the studio.

Ryukyu Glass employs craftsmen with excellent skills, including contemporary master glassblowers and prefectural craftsmen, who produce 100% handmade Ryukyu glass on a daily basis.

The Ryukyu Glass products are sold at the direct sales store in the Ryukyu Glass Village.

Visitors can see glassblowers at work from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Point 3: Enjoy rainbow showers of light

The Ryukyu Glass Village has a GLASS GARDEN where visitors can enjoy the beauty of Ryukyu glass and nature.

Tropical flowers such as banana and palm trees bloom, and objects, flowers, and stained glass made of Ryukyu glass shine brightly.

When you enter the “Glass House” built with Ryukyu glass and iron, red, blue, and yellow glasses are projected on the floor by the sun’s rays, making you feel as if you were taking a rainbow shower.
